RESUMO

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, early diagnosis, and rational treatments of traumatic renal artery thrombosis or other traumatic emboli. Methods We summarized the clinical data of 10 patients with traumatic renal artery thrombosis or other traumatic emboli. Results Six of ten patients had left renal artery thrombosis, while four of the ten patients had right renal artery thrombosis.Ultrasonography reported a reduced blood flow signal in one patient, and then renal artery embolism was confirmed by enhanced CT.The other nine patients were directly definitely diagnosed as renal artery embolism by enhanced CT.Four patients were treated with low molecular weight heparin calcium,in whom the CT follow-up showed no obvious blood reperfusion in injured kidneys, but the renal function was in normal range.Renal hypertension occurred in two patients, and one of them received nephrectomy because of poorly controlled hypertension with medication. Conclusions Clinical symptoms, signs and laboratory examinations show no specific findings for diagnosis of traumatic renal artery thrombosis. The color Doppler ultrasound is a preliminary screening method for,and an enhanced CT scan is an effective method for, diagnosis of renal artery thrombosis. The early recovery of renal blood circulation is an evidence of effective treatment.Major concerns are supposed to focus on renal function and blood pressure during followup.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the pathological changes and mechanism in the urethra by parturition-induced stress urinary incontinence. Methods Sprague Dawley female rats underwent vaginal balloon dilation for 4 hours immediately after delivery. One week later, the rats were anesthetized and both ovaries were excised. Then a rat model of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) was successfully established. One month after ovariectomy, conscious cystometry and Leak-Point Pressure (LPP) were measured by MP150.Histological examination and Western blotting were performed after functional assays. Results (1) 85% of rats presented astress urinary incontinence in the model group.(2) The urethras in SUI rats had decreased muscles, and striated muscles showed fragmentized and disorganized.(3) Elastic fibers were long, well organized and tightly connected to the muscle bundles in sham group, while elastic fibers showed fragmentation and disorganization in the model group.(4) The protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and blood vessels were reduced in SUI rats as compared with the sham rats. Conclusions Muscle and elastic fibers in the urethra are disrupted in SUI rat.VEGF may play an important role in regulation of pathological changes in urethra.

RESUMO

20 yrs were screened in 5 communities of Daqing. Results The prevalent rate of diabetes was 5.10%,and its standardized prevalent rate was 5.20%,thereinto 91.89% of it was type 2 diabetes and 2.12% was IFG.With Logistic regression analysis, the results showed that the risk factors for type 2 diabetes included family history of diabetes(OR=2.133,95%CI: 1.210~3.760),hypertension(OR=3.669,1.966~5.833),high intake of sweetmeat(OR=1.770,95%CI:1.214~3.090),high intake of lipids(OR=3.222,95%CI:1.667~5.235),addiction for animal viscera(OR=2.292,95%CI:1.033~4.587),ratio of waistline vs hip circumference, coronary heart disease(OR=4.818,95%CI:2.246~6.336),history of cerebrovascular disease(OR=2.196,95%CI:1.864~5.583),hyperlipidemia(OR=2.882,95%CI:1.458~5.968),cigarette smoking(OR=1.642,95%CI:1.197~2.088),civil servant(OR=2.046,95%CI:1.722~3.633) and occupation of education & clinics(OR=2.742,95%CI:1.924~3.742). Conclusion The diabetes is related with many factors. Its harm to health of Daqing citizens is becoming more and more serious. It should be important to take efficient measures for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in community.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the prevalence of cerebral palsy (here in after referred to CP) in children aged 1 - 6 in Guangxi, China, and its epidemiologic characteristics and relevant risk factors.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Investigations on the prevalence and etiology of CP in children at ages of 1 - 6 were conducted in Nanning, Hengxian and Qinzhou of Guangxi from June to December in 1998, with a cluster sampling.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Totally, 150 806 children aged 1 - 6 were investigated in Nanning, Hengxian and Qinzhou of Guangxi, with 89 418 boys and 61 388 girls. Among them, 193 children were diagnosed as CP, with a prevalence rate of 1.28 per thousand, higher in boys (136 cases, 1.52 per thousand ) than in girls (57 cases, 0.93 per thousand ), with statistical significance (chi(2) = 9.536 7, P = 0.02). Logistic regression analysis showed that risk factors for CP were children who could not cry after birth (neonatal asphyxia), Apgar score less than eight, delivery at lower level of maternity hospital, number of mother's gravidity, no prenatal checks for mothers, and taking antipyretics and preserved food with salt during pregnancy.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Prevalence of CP in children of Guangxi was at a lower level in comparison with that in other areas at home and abroad, which, maybe, was related with the lower neonatal survival and higher infant mortality.</p>

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effects of co-exposure to LPS and heat on plasma tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in rats. Methods Eighty male pathogen-free Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: saline-injected normothermic control (group C), saline-injected heat exposed (group H), LPS-injected normothermic control (group L), LPS-injected heat exposed (group HL). Rectal temperature (Tr), heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), and respiratory rate (RR) were continually monitored. Plasma levels of TNF-? and IL-6 were determined at 0, 40, 80, 120 min after treatment. Results The rats in group HL displayed significantly higher values of Tr , HR , and RR and lower values of MAP than that of group C at 120 min. There was a significant difference in the values of HR and MAP between group HL and the other 3 groups at the same time point. The rats in group HL displayed an early rise in levels of plasma TNF-?, IL-6 at 40 min. The significant elevation of the peak TNF-? level at 80 min in group HL was observed. Plasma IL-6 hyperexpression was shown in rats in group HL which was significantly higher than the other 3 groups at the same time point. Conclusion Co-exposure to LPS and heat induces the rat to develop and augment systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
