RESUMO

Objectives: To determine the behavioral pattern of Golestan University of Medical Science [GUMS] students as pedestrian and car occupants in relation to traffic law based on Health Belief Model


Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed during 2012 in GUMS. A total of 370 students of GUMS were selected using multi-stage sampling method including stratified and random sampling. Data were collected by using a reliable and valid questionnaire. All the participants filled the questionnaire and the data was extracted according to previously described method. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 18 Software. Descriptive statistic and Spearman correlation was used for analyzing the data


Results: Mean age of the participants was 20.92 +/- 1.98 [range 17-32] years. Mean score of perceived susceptibility was 81.87 +/- 17.18, being in desirable level. Mean score of perceived severity was 73.39 +/- 18.4, being also in desirable level. Mean score of perceived benefits was 77.22 +/- 16.13, which was also assumed to be in desirable level. Mean score of perceived barriers was 53.46 +/- 16.27, assumed as moderate level. In the same way the mean score of practice was 66.17 +/- 17.51, so practice in students was in moderate level. Television was the most important cues to action


Conclusion: Perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits regarding safety behaviors was in good level but perceived barriers and behavior was in moderate level and according to the importance of Television, we recommended appropriate intervention such as health education and advocacy, especially through national Television

RESUMO

Since, a few study have been done using community education related to cutaneous leishmaniasis [CL] prevention, this study was done to assess the effect of educational program basis on BASNEF Model for promoting Volunteer Health Workers [VHWs] educational practices about CL prevention. In this prospective quasi-experimental study, 60 VHWs who resident in endemic area of CL in Yazd in 2009 were selected through cluster sampling method and randomly divided in two groups [experimental and control group]. Data were collected before and 3 months after educational intervention by using reliable and valid questionnaires and analyzed. The mean score of knowledge and BASNEF Model components such as attitude, behavioral intention, enabling factors and practice as well as subjective norms [family, friends, neighbors, local trusted people, local therapist, local mullah, health workers and physician] increase significantly [p<0.05] 3 months after the intervention program among experimental group comparing to control group. This study was confirmed effectiveness of the training VHWs by using educational program basis on BASNEF model related to CL prevention program

RESUMO

Introduction and Aims: Diabetes is one of the most common glandular diseases in the world. Patient with diabetes are more than other individuals with eye problems, nervous, cardiovascular, renal insufficiency. According to the importance of the subject and high prevalence of diabetes and its complications, the current study was designed and done with the aim of determinants of Prevalence of chronic complications of type 2 diabetes and its related factors in referred diabetes patients to Freydonkenar diabetes center


Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical study that was done in referred diabetes patients with type 2 diabetes to Freydonkenar diabetes center and 400 records of patient were selected via randomly method. The research instrument was a self-made check-list including demographic characteristics and diabetes complications. Collected data were analyzed by using SPSS18 and Chi-squared and t test


Results: from 400 Records of patients, 77 patients were [19/3%] males and 323 [80/8%] female.90.5% of the patient suffers from chronic complications of diabetes. 65.8% suffer from neuropathy, 26.8% eye complications, 14.5% renal complications and 38.8 cardiovascular complications and 50.5% other complications


Conclusion: The results showed Prevalence of diabetes complications is high. so we recommended appropriate intervention such as educational intervention for promoting knowledge of the patients and screening for preventing complications of the disease
