RESUMO
Transcutaneous voltage potentials were recorded form points in the face of 30 healthy adult males. 240 points in the beard area and another 240 points in the adjacent non-hairy areas were studied. Potentials recorded from all these surface points-stratum corneum-were electronegative with respect to the dermis. Potentials in the hairy areas were found to be significantly lower than those in the non-hairy areas. This finding confirms earlier reports and excludes other factors, thus attributing the lower potential to the presence of hair
