RESUMO
A survey of a total of 208 fracture complete dentures was undertaken. The results showed that, by far, the most common area of fracture was the midline in both the upper and lower dentures. Most of the fractures occurred during function. The majority of repairs made with cold-cure acrylic. It is perhaps relevant to mention that it could be thoroughly examined prior to hastily repair them without knowledge of the cause of fracture. If the reason is an ill-fitting denture because of excessive resorption and increased stresses, the dentures should be adjusted as well as repaired. Also, patient's education could help in reducing the incidence of accidental fracture. Dentures should be always cleaned above a bowl filled with water, which acts as a cushion to protect them against breakage if accidentally dropped
