RESUMO

Mesoblastic nephroma or fetal mesenchymal hamartoma of the kidney is an uncommon congenital tumor of infancy that rarely occurs in adults. This tumor is slow growing tumor considered to originate from renal mesenchyme and is separated this relatively benign lesion from its malignant counterpart, malignant nephroblastoma(Wilms` tumor). We report a case of mesoblastic nephroma incidentally detected left renal mass and treated with radical nephrectomy in 50 years old man.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To determine the relative accuracy of transrectal ultrasonographic measurement of prostate volume in comparison to actual volume of prostate and its clinical application. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-five benign prostate hyperplasia patients who were undergone transrectal ultrasonography for prostatic volume estimation in Kosin university hospital were selected. Prostate models in equal size with ultrasonographically estimated prostatic size were made and used as model I group. We also made twenty prostate models in different size and used as model II group. We compared measurement of ultrasonographic volume of prostate model with actual volume of prostate model in two groups. RESULTS: In model I group, the most accurate method in estimating prostate volume was variation of the spheroid formula with correlation coefficient of 0.892 and then ellipsoid formula with correlation coefficient of 0.887. In model II group, the most accurate method in estimating prostate volume was ellipsoid formula with correlation coefficient of 0.945 and then variation of the spheroid formula with correlation coefficient of 0.929. CONCLUSIONS: When different volume ranges were considered, it was suspected that ellipsoid formula provided the closest estimate of prostate volume in less than 50cc range and variation of the spheroid formula in more than 50cc range in estimating the prostate volume.

RESUMO

Incidence of adenocarcinoma of the kidney in long-term hemodialysis is higher than in the general group. Although renal cancers occuring in dialysis patients are often small and asymptomatic, some patients present with cutaneous, visceral, or skeletal metastasis. We report a case of adenocarcinoma of the kidney in chronic hemodialysis patient. A 36-year-old male was diagnosed as chronic renal failure 6 years ago and then had been recieving hemodialysis. Renal tumor and multiple renal cysts were incidentally found in right kidney by renal ultrasonography and abdominal CT scanning. Radical nephrectomy was done and pathologic diagnosis was renal cell carcinoma and multiple simple renal cysts.

RESUMO

Retroperitoneal tumors are account for fewer than 0.2 % of total malignancies. Retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma of these are rare and show a tendency toward large size and extensions by infiltration to the adjacent structure. Thus, the most frequent symptoms are palpable abdominal mass and abdominal pain. Early detection and treatment is difficult in retroperitoneal tumor. Aggressive radical surgical excision is treatment of choice. Modern therapeutic modalilty improve the prognosis, but still remained debatable prognosis. we report a case of retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma in 54-year-old women who was recieved chemotherapy and then surgical removal.
