RESUMO

This case report describes three cases in which periapical surgeries were carried out using a new surgical endodontic technique by using a three?dimensional (3D) printed template for guided osteotomy and root resection. In Case 1, the data obtained from preoperative CT scan and cast scan were transferred to a surgical planning software. The surgical template was printed using a 3D printer. Using the template, osteotomy and root?end resection were precisely carried out. In Case 2, after CBCT imaging, data were transferred to stereolithography and a 3D model was fabricated. With the help of the 3D model, a template was fabricated using tray material. This guided surgical template minimized the extent of osteotomy and enabled precise targeting of the apex. In Case 3, a preoperative CT scan aided in the fabrication of a surgical 3D template. The template assisted in the precise removal of the overlying cortical bone.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to revise the complications of circumcision and measures of their prevention. Pediatric Surgery Unit, SMC. Prospective study. Sixty-one consecutive cases of circumcision with complications were reviewed prospectively during 18 months, from June 1997 to December 2008. The mean age at presentation was 20 months [range one week to eleven years]. The most common observed complications were redundant foreskin in 28 [46%], followed by minor bleeding in 17 [28%]. Five serious complications had been seen after clamp technique for circumcision [3 glanular trauma and 2 webbed penises]. Eleven minor complications were seen, nine occurred in pediatric surgery unit out of total of 600 circumcisions performed during the study period, 1.5%. Circumcision may be associated with serious complications especially with clamp technique. To prevent these complications, trained physicians should perform this procedure

RESUMO

Hepatic infarction is rare, probably due to the dual blood supply by portal vein and hepatic artery. The causes of hepatic artery occlusion include: atherosclerotic, embolus, arteritis, aneurysm, neoplasia, sepsis, shock, general anesthesia and transcatheter embolization for treatment of malignant hepatic tumors. Abdominal trauma rarely leads to hepatic infarction, causing significant morbidity and may require emergency intervention. We are reporting a case of left hepatic lobe infarction developed after blunt abdominal trauma in a ten year-old girl. It was managed successfully by conservative treatment. The sequela of hepatic infarction, in this case, was evaluated by ultrasound

RESUMO

Allergic fungal sinusitis is the commonest form of fungal sinusitis which is analogous to allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in many aspects. Once looked upon as a rare disease which now seems to be increasing in incidence either due to better diagnostic criteria or due to genuine increase in the number of cases. We report a case presented as allergic fungal sinusitis with infratemporal extension and expansion with bone resorption into intracranial region in an asthmatic teenager who was treated successfully with a combination of surgery and medical interventions
