RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with dietary attitudes and dietary self-efficacy of juvenile delinquents. Out of 110 questionnaires distributed to the juvenile detention home students in Daegu, and 150 questionnaires distributed to the juvenile detention home students in Anyang, 210 were analyzed (80.7% analysis rate). These data were analyzed by SPSS program. The results are summarized as follows. Almost all parents' educational levels showed 'graduation of middle school', and only 43.8% of the juvenile detention students were living with parents. In case of incoming status, average income per month was 2,000,000 won, which was lower than normal one. Diet attitude score was higher in boy students than girl students (p < 0.05). There was a higher score of diet attitude in higher educational levels of father. The average score of dietary self-efficacy was 2.51 +/- 0.86. This value was lower than the normal juvenile. There was a higher diet attitude score in the higher dietary self-efficacy score (p < 0.001). Therefore, proper nutrition education is required to improve their dietary self-efficacy. The results of this study could be useful data to plan and develop nutritional education programs of juvenile delinquents

RESUMO

The use of autologous fat grafts has questionable clinical value due to unreliable grafts survival. For the purpose of improved graft survival, re-implantation of cryopreserved adipocytes is developed. The purpose of study is to analyze the changes of freeze-preserved adipocytes and to find out efficient long-term storage period. After centrifugation of aspirated abdominal tissues, 10ml of packed adipocytes were freezed at -20 degrees C (n=70). For 6 months, each 10 frozen samples were taken and analyzed at 1 month interval. Significant volume changes were observed in cryopreservation for 3 months (p < 0.05). The profiles of total lipid and FFA were not changed and no significant difference in saturated fatty acid ratio with gas chromatography. No histologic changes were observed, independent of the freezing period with H & E stain. The reduction of mitochondrial enzymatic activity was observed independent of time interval but activity of mitochondrial dehydrogenase was reduced less than 50% in XTT assay. On the basis of these data, -20 degrees C freezing for 6 months has no adverse effect to adipocytes, but frigile adipocytes, damaged cell membrane during harvest procedure, were disrupted within 1month and the maximum volume reduction were followed less than 3 months. These results demonstrate that tissue preparation cells with no cell membrane damage have the greatest viability level and cryopreservation less than 3 months has great volume effect.

RESUMO

The study was conducted to compare the quality life (QOL), health perception and self efficacy of the ostomates by the fecal control type. The study sbjects included 128 ostomates in Pusan, Daegu, Daejon and Incheon branches of the Korean Ostomy Association. Data collection was performed for 27 day periods from September 10th to October 6th. 1988. The instruments used in this study were the OL scale developed by Bang (1991). the health perception scale developed by Ware and translated to Korean by Lee (1987), the self efficacy scale developed by Kim( 1995). The analysis of the data was done by the use of descriptive statistics. Chi-square test, ANCOVA and Pearson Correlation with the SAS program. The results of the study are summarized below. 1. Only age was a significant difference between the two groups(p=.014). 2. The ostomate-related characteristics which showed significant differences were the number of participations in the ostomate meetings each month(p=.001). the care manager(p=.017), the number of defecations(p=.001). problems with the colostomy(p=.003), the duration of the ostomates(p=.00l). These variables were controlled using the ANCOVA. 3. The first hypothesis. "There will be differences at the level of the QOL according to the fecal control type" was supported(F=7.87, p .0059). 4. The second hypothesis. "There will be differences at the level of health perception depending on the fecal control type" was supported (F =8.68, p = .0039). 5. The third hypothesis, "There will be differences at the level of self efficacy depending on the fecal control type" was supported(F=4.58. p=.0344). 6. There were significant positive correlation between the QOL and health perception(r= .8225. p=.0001), and self efficacy(r=.6356, p=000l). From the above results, it can be concluded that colostomy irrigation is a good method to improve the QOL, health perception and self-efficacy. Therefore, colostomy irrigation is an important method for rehabilitation nursing use in the care of ostomates.
