RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To study the clinical features of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children aged <18 years.@*METHODS@#A retrospective analysis was performed from the medical data of 23 children, aged from 3 months to 17 years and 8 months, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Jiangxi, China from January 21 to February 29, 2020.@*RESULTS@#Of the 23 children with COVID-19, 17 had family aggregation. Three children (13%) had asymptomatic infection, 6 (26%) had mild type, and 14 (61%) had common type. Among these 23 children, 16 (70%) had fever, 11 (48%) had cough, 8 (35%) had fever and cough, and 8 (35%) had wet rales in the lungs. The period from disease onset or the first nucleic acid-positive detection of SARS-CoV-2 to the virus nucleic acid negative conversion was 6-24 days (median 12 days). Of the 23 children, 3 had a reduction in total leukocyte count, 2 had a reduction in lymphocytes, 2 had an increase in C-reactive protein, and 2 had an increase in D-dimer. Abnormal pulmonary CT findings were observed in 12 children, among whom 9 had patchy ground-glass opacities in both lungs. All 23 children received antiviral therapy and were recovered.@*CONCLUSIONS@#COVID-19 in children aged <18 years often occurs with family aggregation, with no specific clinical manifestation and laboratory examination results. Most of these children have mild symptoms and a good prognosis. Epidemiological history is of particular importance in the diagnosis of COVID-19 in children aged <18 years.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the genetic polymorphisms of 18 STR loci (D18S51, D21S11, D3S1358, FGA, D8S1179, upsilonWA, CSF1PO, D16S539, D7S820, D13S317, D5S818, D2S1338, D19S433, D12S391, TPOX, TH01, Penta E and D6S1043) in unrelated Uygur individuals in Kashi prefecture of Xinjiang and to explore the application value in forensic practice.@*METHODS@#Blood samples from 1 381 unrelated Uygur individuals were amplified by using DNA Typer 15 Plus kit. The amplified products were detected by using 3130XL Genetic Analyzer and the genotyping was done by using GeneMapper ID v3.2. Population genetics parameters were calculated and compared with that of the other population. The genetic distance of Reynold's was calculated and phylogenetic tree was constructed at last.@*RESULTS@#Of the 1 381 unrelated Uygur individuals, 231 alleles were detected, with an allele frequency of 0.0004-0.5304. The H values were 0.644-0.923, PIC values were 0.587-0.918, and DP values were 0.817-0.988, respectively, with a CPE > 0.9999999. The genetic distance was the longest (0.088 3) to Guangzhou Han population and the closest (0.0503) to Greek.@*CONCLUSION@#The 18 STR loci in the Uygur population of Kashi prefecture of Xinjiang have high genetic polymorphisms which are close to Europeans, and can be satisfied as genetic markers of population individual identification and paternity testing.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To abtain the genetic polymorphisms data of eleven Y-chromosome STR loci in Yunnan Han population, and to evaluate its forensic application values, which will provide the base data for forensic application.@*METHODS@#DYS391, DYS389 I, DYS439, DYS389 II, DYS438, DYS437, DYS19, DYS392, DYS393, DYS390 and DYS385a/b loci were amplified by using Powerplex Y PCR amplification Kit and were analyzed by 310 genetic analyzer. 201 unrelated male individuals of Han population in Yunnan were investigated to determine the distributions of allele frequencies and haplotypes.@*RESULTS@#3, 5, 6, 8, 5, 4, 5, 8, 4, 7 alleles were found across the Y-STR loci except DYS38556 haplotypes were found across DYS385a/b locus. The minimum GD value was 0.4273 (DYS438), and the maximum was 0.9747 (DYS385a/b). 175 haplotypes were found, of which 154 were unique, 16 were found in 2 individuals, 5 were found in 3 individuals, and the observed haplotypes diversity value was 0.9984.@*CONCLUSION@#The 11 Y-STR loci are highly polymorphic and are suitable for forensic personal identification and paternity testing in Yunnan Han population.
