RESUMO

The rheumatoid activity on any part of the spine may affect the surrounding nerves, causing a series of symptoms at the related region of the innervations. By pressing corresponding parts on spinous processes of patient spine, tenderness of various degrees occurs. We named this kind of symptoms as "the spinous process tenderness syndrome". Meanwhile, we borrowed laboratory and imaging examinations to diagnose and differential identify. The symptoms could be alleviated by eliminating pathogenic reasons, local resting, and anti-rheumatic drugs.

RESUMO

Nowadays, a great number of traditional Chinese patent medicine (TCPM) are used more and more widely to treat cerebral infarction in China. When great attention is paid to using TCPM in the real world, several problems can be identified: ignoring the Chinese medicine (CM) therapeutic principle based on syndrome differentiation, a lack of appropriate dosage and usage based on individual patient conditions, and a shortage of evidence from randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials. Furthermore, in terms of evaluation of the TCPM effectiveness, few comprehensive criteria and evaluation methods recognized by the international community exist. This article addresses some opinions regarding the above mentioned problems.

RESUMO

Background High myopia can be corrected using laser therapy and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation.IOL implantation is more suitable than laser therapy for high myopia if the patients suffer from thinner cornea. Objective This clinical trail was to assess and compare the visual quality following phakic iris-claw intraocular lens (IOL) and implantable contact lens(ICL) implantation for high myopia.MethodsIris-claw phakic intraocular lens was implanted in 17 eyes of 10 patients with high myopia, and age-,refractive-matched 17 eyes of 9 patients were in implantable contact lens (ICL) implantation group.Uncorrected visual acuity, best correct visual acuity, contrast sensitivity under the 3,6,12 and 18 c/d spatial frequencies,wave-front aberrations, including RMS3,RMS4 and RMSh,were examined in 6 months after operation.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient before surgery. Results There were no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity, best correct visual acuity between two groups(t=0.489,P>0.05;t=0.853,P>0.05).Non-glare CS under the 3 c/d,6 c/d,12 c/d and 18 c/d spatial frequencies were insignificantly different between two groups ( t = 0. 906, P > 0.05 ; t = 0. 103, P > 0. 05 ; t =0. 694 ,P>0. 05 ; t = 1. 583, P>0. 05), and the similar outcomes were found in glare CS ( t = 0. 323, P>0.05, t =0.041 ,P>0. 05, t = 0.024, P>0. 05; t = 0. 363, P>0.05) in postoperative 6 months. RMS3 and RMSh were significantly elevated in PIOL group compared with ICL group ( t = 11.40, P0. 05). Conclusion Both PIOL and ICL implantation for high myopia can achieve an equal visual acuity. But clinical outcomes of ICL implantation is much better than PIOL group. A long-term effect should be observed for the further evaluation.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the therapeutic effect of acupuncture at Dazhui (GV 14) for abating fever of common cold.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Two hundred and sixty-one cases were randomly assigned to a treatment group of 133 cases and a control group of 128 cases. The treatment group were treated with electroacupuncture at Dazhui (GV 14) and the control group with antondine injection. The transient effect of abating fever within 24 h was observed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>After treatment, the body temperature at all observation time points in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01). The effect-appearing time (1.42 +/- 1.79) h in the treatment group was shorter than that in the control group (3.44 +/- 5.10) h (P < 0.01). The cured rate and the abating fever rate were 27.8% and 75.9% in the treatment group, and 10.9% and 55.5% in the control group, with significant differences between the two groups, the treatment group being better than the control group (P < 0.01). The abating fever rate for the wind-heat type common cold was 75.3% in the treatment group and 50.0% in the control group, with significant difference between the two groups, the treatment group being better than the control group (P < 0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The method of acupuncture at Dazhui (GV 14) has a definite therapeutic effect on high fever of common cold, and for wind-heat type common cold, Dazhui (GV 14) first may be chosen to abate high-fever and the treatment should be taken as early as possible.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To probe into the mechanism of acupuncture for treatment of cerebro-cardiac syndrome.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The rats were randomly divided into a normal group, a sham operation group, a cerebral bleeding group, an acupuncture group and an acupuncture control group. The acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture at "Neiguan" (PC 6), "Shuigou" (GV 26), "Renying" (ST 19), and the acupuncture control group with acupuncture at "Shenmen" (HT 7) and "Danzhong" (CV 17). The tissue in situ hybridization technique was used to detect dynamic changes of endothelin (ET) mRNA expression in both the central cardiovascular special regulative area and the myocardium, and imaging quantitative analysis on the positive response materials was carried out.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The experimental cerebral bleeding could rapidly induce abnormal expression of ET gene in the cerebral bleeding surrounding area, hypothalamus, brain stem, hippocampus and myocardium. Up-regulation of FT mRNA expression could be found at 6 h of cerebral bleeding, and it reached to the peak at 24 h, and slightly reduced at 72 h, still being higher than the normal level. At the same time, ET expression in the myocardium increased. Acupuncture could block the increase of FT gene expression induced by cerebral bleeding.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Acupuncture exerts protective action on injuries of neurons and myocardium induced by cerebral bleeding via blocking the increase of FT gene expression induced by cerebral bleeding.</p>

RESUMO

@#ObjectiveTo observe the effect of sport walking on heart and lungs functions in old women.MethodsForty-two old women aged from 60 to 69 had sport walking for 4 months; the speed and intensity were controlled according to their heart rate respectively. The indexes of respiration, circulation and rheoencephalography were measured before and after exercise.ResultsAfter exercise, blood-pumping function of heart improved obviously, stroke volume increased from (65.22±11.41)ml to (72.10± 10.78)ml, ejection fraction increased from (60.10±5.03)% to (68.78±6.25)%, while heart rate declined from (77.45±8.69) times/min to (7.89±8.21)times/min, capacity increased from (2.86±0.36)L to (3.34±0.53)L, and maximal voluntary ventilation for every minute increased from (96.14± 15.21)L to (114.02±16.01)L, significantly different compared with that before treatment ( P<0.01). The fluid time of rheoencephalography reduced from (0.171±0.058)s to (0.128±0.049)s ( P<0.01).ConclusionSport walking under proper intensity can improve the function of respiration and circulation system in old women, so it is a good way to keep health for the elders.
