RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the effect of microecologic treatment combined enteral nutrition on serum endotoxin, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-18 (IL-18),blood ammonia levels and nutritional status in patients with hepatic encephalopathy. Methods 60 patients with hepatic encephalopathy were allocted randomly into 3 groups,on the basis of conventional liver protective therapy and uragogue with one group given probiotics plus enteral nutrition, one given probiotics only, and the 3rd group given intravenous nutrition. The whole course of treatment was four weeks.Serum levels of endotoxin,TNF-α,IL-18,ammonia and albumin were determined before and on the 7th and 14th day after treatment. Results The levels of serum endotoxin,TNF-α,IL-18 and blood ammonia in the combined treatment group decreased remarkably after treatment, while the level of serum albumin elevated markedly. The difference was significant at statistics as compared with the only probiotics group and intravenous nutrition group (P<0.05).Conclusion Microecologic treatment combined enteral nutrition could effectively reduce blood ammonia and serum endotoxin levels, protect intestinal mucosal barrier,as well as improve nutritional status of patients with hepatic encephalopathy, which was considered as a safe and efficient therapy.

RESUMO

In order to produce valuable monoclonal antibodies for immunodiagnosis of cysticerco-sis, hybridoma technique was adopted using the fusion of splenic lymphocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with Cysticercus cellulosae antigens and the myeloma cell line NS-1. Through screening and cloning, three monoclonal antibody cell lines have been established. Im- munoglobulin subclasses of 3 lines were determined to be IgGl. These monoclonal antibodies were found to be highly specific and without cross reaction with Echinococcus granulosus hy-datid cyst and Cysticercus fasciolasis. Antigen fractions specifically reacting to monoclonal antibodies were demonstrated with Western blot method. The results showed that specific reaction bands of SCW located in 25 kDa and 17 kDa regions.

RESUMO

Acid a-naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE), a cytoplasmic marker was used to identify the T lymphocytes and their subpopulations in peripheral blood of mice experimemally infected with T. spiralis. The results showed that the absolute number of lymphocytes and T lymphocytes increased in parallel on d, after infection, reachiug the peak on d14, and remaining above normal level on d60. The spotted granular ANAE positive cells (Helper T cells, Th) were decreasing and the scattered granular ANAE positive cells (suppressor T cells, Ts) were increasing, leading to a lowering of the Th/Ts ratio which was most marked on d14 and returned to normal on d60. The depres-sion of host immune function during T. spiralis infection might be related to the lowering of Th/Ts ratio.
