RESUMO

The lignocellulolytic filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa is able to assimilate various mono- and oligo-saccharides. However, more than half of predicted sugar transporters in the genome are still waiting for functional elucidation. In this study, system analysis of substrate spectra of predicted sugar transporters in N. crassa was performed at genome-wide level. NCU01868 and NCU08152 have the capability of uptaking various hexose, which are named as NcHXT-1 and NcHXT-2 respectively. Their transport activities for glucose were further confirmed by fluorescence resonance energy transfer analysis. Over-expression of either NcHXT-1 or NcHXT-2 in the null-hexose-transporter yeast EBY.VW4000 restored the growth and ethanol fermentation under submerged fermentation with glucose, galactose, or mannose as the sole carbon source. NcHXT-1/-2 homologues were found in a variety of cellulolytic fungi. Functional identification of two filamentous fungal-conserved hexose transporters NcHXT-1/-2 via genome scanning would represent novel targets for ongoing efforts in engineering cellulolytic fungi and hexose fermentation in yeast.

RESUMO

Objective:to study cognitive impairment and social function of patients with Alzheimer disease (AD). Method:22 patients with AD and 12 with depression in elderly were followed for 3 months, both at the very beginning and the end of 3 months, they were tested with CASI (cognitive abilities screening instrument) and FAQ (functional activities questionnaire).Result:scores of short memory, attention, mathematics, abstract and association of CASI were significantly lower in AD group than that in depression group. AD patients had also poorer outcome in FAQ, such as in that of shopping, learn new things, and recall of engagement. Conclusion:Cognitive impairment and social function of patients with AD were poorer than elderly patients with depression.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and compliance with a new antidepressant mirtazapine to treat depressive patients. Methods:A open-labeled study was conducted and followed up six months for 60 depressive patients treated with mirtazapine, 62 cases with depression, as a control group, treated with Clomipramine and Fluoxetine, which were assessed by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD), Asberg Rating Scale for Side Effects(SERS), Clinical Global Impression(CGI) and Attitudes Questionaire made by ourselves. Results:The group treated with mirtazapine was superior to a control group in aspect of responsive time, early variety of factors in scales, side effects, prescription compliance , treatment attitudes and falling off cases(P
