RESUMO

The filiform needling technique is an important factor affecting the acupoint effect, and it is the key to option the needling technique corresponding to the disease so that the clinical curative effect can be improved. This paper systematically reviews the application of kinetic needling in the treatment of spasm, in order to provide some theoretical basis for the optimal acupuncture regimen of spasm. By summarizing and analyzing the similarities and differences of acupoint selection principle, needling characteristics, stimulation range, stimulation amount and indications in the treatment of spasm, it is found that kinetic needling emphasizes the effective combination of acupuncture and kinesis, which is an effective mean of treating spasm.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDEnamel decalcification in orthodontics is a concern for dentists and methods to remineralize these lesions are the focus of intense research. The aim of this study was to evaluate the remineralizing effect of casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) nanocomplexes on enamel decalcification in orthodontics.

METHODSTwenty orthodontic patients with decalcified enamel lesions during fixed orthodontic therapy were recruited to this study as test group and twenty orthodontic patients with the similar condition as control group. GC Tooth Mousse, the main component of which is CPP-ACP, was used by each patient of test group every night after tooth-brushing for six months. For control group, each patient was asked to brush teeth with toothpaste containing 1100 parts per million (ppm) of fluoride twice a day. Standardized intraoral images were taken for all patients and the extent of enamel decalcification was evaluated before and after treatment over this study period. Measurements were statistically compared by t test.

RESULTSAfter using CPP-ACP for six months, the enamel decalcification index (EDI) of all patients had decreased; the mean EDI before using CPP-ACP was 0.191 ± 0.025 and that after using CPP-ACP was 0.183 ± 0.023, the difference was significant (t = 5.169, P < 0.01). For control group, the mean EDI before treatment was 0.188 ± 0.037 and that after treatment was 0.187 ± 0.046, the difference was not significant (t = 1.711, P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONCPP-ACP can effectively improve the demineralized enamel lesions during orthodontic treatment, so it has some remineralization potential for enamel decalcification in orthodontics.

RESUMO

Objective To study the sensitivity and specificity of a double monoclonal antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (DMcAbS-ELISA)for the detection of F1 antigen of Yersinia pestis (Y.pestis).Methods Viscera (viz.liver and spleen)specimens of infected mice with virulent Y.pestis and negative control mice were detected by bacteriological test,DMcAbS-ELISA and reverse indirect hemagglutination assay (RIHA) for the F1 antigen. Results The 225 control specimens were all negative tested by plague bacteriology testing,DMcAbS-ELISA and RIHA.A total of 308 plague-infected mouse organ specimens were tested, and the positive detection rate was 92.21% (284/308),90.91%(280/308) and 89.61% (276/308),respectively,with germiculture,DMcAbS-ELISA and RIHA,and the difference was not statistically significant(x2=5.65,P>0.05).The coincidence rate of DMcAbS-ELISA and bacterial culture was 97.00%[(274+243)/533],Kappa =0.940;RIHA in line with the rate was 99.25%[(276+253)/533],Kappa =0.985.Authenticity comparison of F1 antigen detection in viscera specimens:sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, adjusted agreement and Youden's index was 96.48%(274/284),97.59%(243/249),97.86% (274/280),96.05 %(243/253),96.99%[1/4×(274/280+274/284+243/253+243/249)]and 0.9407,respectively,for DMcAbS-ELISA and 96.13%(273/284),98.80%(246/249),98.91%(273/276),95.72%(246/257),97.39%[1/4×(273/276+273/284+246/257±246/249)]and 0.9492,respectively,for RIHA.The detection sensitivity of DMcAbS-ELISA and RIHA was 2.7×104 cfu/ml and 2.2×105 cfu/ml,for Y.pestis, respectively, and was 10 μg/L for F1 antigen. Conclusions DMcAbS-ELISA assay is a sensitive, specific, simple and fast method for detection of the F1 antigen, and it has a potential application value in rapid diagnosis of plague.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of bleaching technique on vital tooth pulp.

METHODSA total of 40 vital teeth extracted for orthodontics were selected, of which, 10 teeth without any treatment served as control, 15 teeth were extracted instantly after bleaching and 15 teeth were extracted 7 days after bleaching. Slides were made from all these three groups and subject to pathological examination under microscope.

RESULTSNo clinical symptoms were found in all the teeth before and after bleaching. All teeth in the three groups showed normal pulp on pathological examination.

CONCLUSIONSBleaching did not affect vital tooth pulp and is a safe technique.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo investigate the initial colonization of Mutans streptococci (MS) on teeth of children.

METHODSDental plaque was collected from 123 children aged from 7 to 42 months. MS was isolated by culturing on selective medium and identified by biochemical tests.

RESULTSMS was detected in 51 of 123 children. The rate of colonization was 41.5%, and the mean age of colonization was 29 month. The incidence of MS infection increased with age and tooth eruption, and reached peak at 25 - 31 months, which was statistically significant. There was a correlation between infection of MS and dental caries.

CONCLUSIONThe results indicate that the susceptive period of MS infection is from 25 to 31 months when the second primary molars erupt. MS infection is associated with dental caries.
