RESUMO

Objective: To compare the effects of MRI- and CT-guided interventional therapies on uterine fibroids

Methods:A total of 280 patients with uterine fibroids who were treated in our hospital from August 2008 to February 2014 were selected and divided into a treatment group and a control group by random draw [n=140]. The control group and the treatment group were subjected to CT- and MRI-guided interventional therapies for uterine artery embolization

Results:After three months of treatment, 94.3% and 92.9% of heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pressure of the treatment group were relieved respectively, which were similar to those of the control group [92.9% and 92.1% respectively] [P>0.05]. The two groups had similar uterine and fibroid sizes before treatment, which were all significantly decreased after treatment [P<0.05] when the treatment group had significantly smaller uteri and fibroids than the control group did [P<0.05]. The serum follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, estradiol levels, arterial resistive indices and endometrial thicknesses of the two groups were similar before treatment, which were significantly increased after treatment [P<0.05]. Meanwhile, the values of the two groups became significantly different [P<0.05]. The treatment group was also significantly less prone to complications such as fever, vaginal bleeding and hematuria than the control group after treatment [P<0.05]

Conclusion:Interventional therapy, especially that guided by MRI, can be performed accurately and safely by mildly affecting the ovary and by promoting the recovery of uterine artery blood flow and endometrial thickness

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effects of electro-acupuncture (EA) on body weight, insulin resistance, hypothalamic agouti gene-related protein (AGRP) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) in diet induced obesity (DIO) rats; To discuss its mechanism for DIO.Methods Fifty SD male rats were randomly divided into low fat diet groups (LFD) and high fat diet group. After the DIO models were established, the successful model rats were randomly divided into model group, EA group and Orlistat (OLST) group. EA was applied to “Zusanli” (ST36) and “Quchi” (LI11) for 20 minutes. The treatment was done once a day for 28 days. OLST was treated with orlistat by gavage. LFD and model did not receive treatment. Body weight was recorded every day. FPG and FINS were detected. The expressions of AGRP and NPY were detected by RT-QPCR. Morphological changes of adipocyte and liver were examined by HE staining. Results The body weight, HOMA-IR, AGRP, NPY and diameter of adipocyte of EA group and OLST group were significantly lower than model group (P<0.05), difference between EA group and OLST group. The states of hepatic steatosis were improved in EA group and OLST group. Conclusion EA has the effects on weight loss by inhibiting the expressions of AGRP and NPY by improving IR.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND:Pulmonary hypertension stil lacks effective treatment measures. The effects of alprostadil in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension remain controversial. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of alprostadil in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension induced by chronic hypoxia. METHODS:24 experimental rats were randomly and evenly divided into control group, model group, and treatment group. The rats of model and treatment groups were fed in the hypoxic box to establish the animal model of pulmonary hypertension, and the rats of control group were fed in the normal air. After pulmonary hypertension induction, rats from the treatment group were intraperitonealy administered alprostadil injection (5 μg/kg per day) for 4 consecutive weeks. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the model group, the mean pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular systolic pressure, pulmonary vascular thickness, size of blood vessels and alveolar wal thickness of rats in the treatment group were obviously decreased. The results suggest that alprostadil can decrease pulmonary artery pressure and prevent lung injury.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND:Nerve growth factor (NGF) belongs to a biological macromolecule that is difficult to pass through the blood-brain barrier. However, a retroviral vector carrying exogenous gene can be stably inserted and integrated into the host cellgenome, which is suitable for gene therapy. OBJECTIVE:To study the gene expression of recombinant retroviral vector carrying rat NGF gene in neural stem cels. METHODS: The rat NGF gene was inserted into a retroviral vector pLEGFP-N1, which was transferred into packaging cels PT67 by Lipofectamine 2000. The positive clones in virus supernatant were colected by G418 selection and used to infect neural stem cels. After that, the NGF expression was tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and the biological competence by PC12 cels, and then morphological change of neural stem cels and celltyping were examined by fluorescent microscope. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The neural stem cels could express extrinsic source NGF protein after the recombinant plasmid was infected into neural stem cels. The PC12 cels increased in the experimental group and stretched out long neurites. And the NGF protein could maintain the neural stem cellsurvival and stimulate their differentiation. These findings suggest that the neural stem cels carrying extrinsic source NGF gene could express NGF successfuly, and the NGF protein induced the survival and differentiation of neural stem cels.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the effect of Euonymus alatus on the blood glucose and hemorheology in rat model of Type 2 diabetes mellitus with blood stagnation (DMBS).@*METHODS@#High fat diet with streptozocin was used to establish the rat model of Type 2 diabetes mellitus, followed by the prednisolone and adrenaline muscle injection to obtain DMBS. DMBS rats were divided into a DMBS group (treated with saline gavage), an Euonymus alatus group (treated with Euonymus alatus gavage), and a glybenzoylamide group (treated with glybenzoylamide gavage).A blank group was treated with saline gavage. The experiment lasted 4 weeks, followed by the evaluation of rats' behavior, and detection of fasting blood glucose and hemorheology.@*RESULTS@#Compared with DMBS rats, the symptoms of polydipsia and diuresis in Euonymus alatus rats were improved, with increased body weight (P<0.05), better fur and mental state, increased resistance for being caught, and reduced tongue stagnation. Compared with DMBS group, though body weight increased, resistance for being caught decreased in the glybenzoylamide group with bad fur and mental state, and tongue stagnation. As to the fasting blood glucose, there was significant difference between the Euonymus alatus group and the DMBS group (P<0.05). As to the hemorheology, including whole blood viscosity (shear rates 1,5,50, and 100 s(-1)), plasma viscosity, and hematocrit, the Euonymus alatus rats had a better efficacy than DMBS rats and glybenzoylamide rats (P<0.05 or P<0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#Euonymus alatus can reduce the fasting blood glucose of DMBS and improve blood stagnation.

RESUMO

Differentiating syndrome factor and forming syndrome type according to symptoms and signs are the rules and processes of syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). TCM syndrome differentiation is a nonlinear complex giant system. In order to solve the key problem of determination of diagnosing weight value for syndrome factor differentiation, a new algorithm of double levels of frequency and weight based on the analysis of frequency statistics was applied, and the accurate syndrome differentiation parameters were acquired. Therefore, based on the nonlinear and multivariate analysis, a new algorithm of calculating diagnostics for syndrome factor differentiation was established.
