RESUMO

In recent years, significant advancements in molecular biology have paved the way for novel targeted therapeutic strategies for gastric cancer treatment. Claudin18, which is an important structural protein involved in tight junctions between cells, and its subtype Claudin18.2 (CLDN18.2), which is specifically expressed in differentiated gastric epithelial cells, have emerged as novel therapeutic targets for patients with gastric cancer. This article aims to systematically review the latest developments in CLDN18.2 research in the fields of basic and clinical gastric cancer studies to provide a reference for clinical practice.

RESUMO

Purpose@#Increasing evidence has shown an association of surgical technique, particularly anastomotic configuration, with postoperative recurrence of CD. This pilot study aimed to evaluate short-term outcomes of isoperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis (ISSA) employed on Crohn disease (CD) patients. @*Methods@#Data were retrieved from a prospectively maintained database. Postoperatively, all patients were followed up with close endoscopic (ileocolonoscopy) surveillance. @*Results@#From January 2017 to May 2021, 30 patients diagnosed with CD who underwent ISSA were compared with 45 CD patients who underwent antiperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis (ASSA). The 2 groups were comparable in baseline demographics and clinical characteristics. No significant differences were observed between groups regarding postoperative safety issues, including anastomotic leak, abdominal/pelvic abscess, length of hospital stay, readmission rate within 30 days, etc. At postoperative 24th month, reduced endoscopic recurrence was observed in the ISSA group compared with that in the ASSA group (18 of 24, 75.0%, vs. 36 of 38, 94.7%; P = 0.024). Regarding surgical recurrence, there was 0% in the ISSA group vs. 4.4% (2 of 45) in the ASSA group (P = 0.510). @*Conclusion@#In this study, we aimed to explore the influence of ISSA on postoperative recurrence in CD patients, and the preliminary results show that ISSA was technically safe and feasible, and appears to be effective in reducing postoperative recurrence in CD patients. However, our conclusion was underpowered due to small sample size and inadequate followup. We proposed ISSA be considered as another alternative option in the toolbox of inflammatory bowel disease surgeons when performing anastomosis on CD patients.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the application of post-mortem tissue sampling under ultrasonography guidance in the autopsy of COVID-19 cases.Methods:Ultrasound-guided post-mortem tissue sampling of heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and spleen were performed in 24 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from Feb 20 to Mar 28, 2020. Seventeen males and seven females aged 39-91(66.6±10.6) years old were enrolled. The total time required for each post-mortem sampling was recorded, and the size of the samples collected from each organ was measured. The success rate of ultrasound-guided post-mortem tissue sampling for each organ was calculated. Results:Ultrasound images could clearly show the needle path and enabled accurate placement of the needle within the target organs, including heart, lung, liver, kidney, and spleen. The total time required for sampling was about 32-54 (39.8±5.7)min. The lengths of heart, lung, liver, kidney, and spleen tissues collected by ultrasound-guided sampling were 10(8, 14)mm, 13(12, 15)mm, 14(13, 15)mm, 13(11, 15)mm, 14(13, 15)mm, respectively. The success rates of heart, lung, liver, kidney, and spleen tissue sampling under ultrasound guidance were 87.5% (21/24), 91.7%(44/48), 100%(24/24), 89.6%(43/48) and 83.3%(20/24), respectively.Conclusions:Post-mortem sampling under ultrasonography guidance may be a rapid and reliable method for collecting of heart, lung, liver, kidney, and spleen tissues in the autopsy of COVID-19 cases.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effects of differentpiperine concentrationson the prolif-eration and invasion of bladder cancer T24 cells. Methods Bladder cancer T24 cells were treated with different concentrations of piperine(5,1 0,20,40,80,and 1 60μmol/L).Then MTT assay,Transwell exper-iments,and western blot were used to detect the expression of bax and bcl-2,and the proliferation and ap-optosis of T24 cells. Results After a 24-hour treatment of piperine,IC50 value was 38.73μmol/L.With the increaseof piperine concentrations, the activity of T24 cell was significantly inhibited in a dose-depend-ent manner.Westernblot showed that the expression of anti-apoptotic protein bcl-2 reduced, and the pro-apoptotic protein bax increased. Conclusion Piperine could inhibit the proliferation of bladder cancer T24 cells and promote the apoptosis of T24 cells.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the value of roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis (RSA) in assessing early migration of femoral implant after total hip arthroplasty (THA) with modular prostheses. Methods From May 2009 to April 2010,37 patients underwent THA with modular prostheses inour hospital, including 25 males and 12 females, aged from 58 to 72 years (average,60.23±5.64 years). There were 32 cases of degenerative osteoarthritis,3 cases of femoral neck fracture and 2 cases of developmental dysplasia of the hip.The Harris hip score and RSA were used to assess the clinical results and the migration of femoral implant at 3,6,12,24 months postoperatively, respectively. Results The average Harris hip score improved from preoperative 26.36 ±10.56 to 78.24±12.72,84.51±16.05,86.72±9.34,and 87.55±8.97 at 3,6,12,and 24 months after operation, respectively, and the differences between pre-and post-operative Harris score were significant. There was no prosthetic revision, and slight thigh pain occurred in 3 patients.According to RSA,the degree of initial migration of femoral implant had large individual differences, and the initial migration was higher from 3 to 6 months after operation.Clinical and biological stabilization was achieved in 36 patients, while progressive migration was found in 1 patient. There was a positive correlation between the distal migration and posterior migration within 24 months after operation (r=0.3,P=0.01).The distal migration and posterior migration/rotation mainly occurred within 3 months after operation. There was no correlation between prosthetic size/offset and degree of migration of implant. Conclusion RSA provides an objective reference for assessing the migration of femoral implant after THA with modular prostheses, which is a reliable method to evaluate early implant stability.
