RESUMO

Evaluation of clinical education is a fundamental part of educational planning. Students' perspective is one of the most important factors in educational evaluation. This study aims to determine the priorities of clinical education evaluation from the view points of nursing and midwifery students in Azad University of Semnan. It was a descriptive cross- sectional study. One hundred and sixty nursing and midwifery students of Islamic Azad University of Semnan were recruited by census. Data was collected by a researcher made questionnaire [alpha=0.9] and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics by SPSS-PC [v.13]. The findings revealed that the students' knowledge of evaluation aims and its methods [3/71 +/- ./59] was the most important factor and receiving feedback [3/46 +/- ./71]was the least important factor in clinical evaluation from the students' perspective. There were no relationship between the students' perspective about clinical evaluation and their age, marital status, discipline, and also the semester of education. Giving information about the process and purposes of clinical education evaluation and considering the students' viewpoints in this regard from the beginning of clinical placement is recommended. Students' understanding of evaluation goals and processes would facilitate accepting the results and promote their motivation for effective learning

Clinical teaching provides a unique opportunity for learning professional skills. In order to be effective it needs enough equipments, correct communications and precise educational planning. It is clear that any deficiencies in this procces have negative consequences. Assessing students' point of view about clinical teaching can provide useful insights for development. The purpose of this study was to assess nursing and midwifery students' point of view about effective clinical teaching in Semnan Azad University in 2009. In this descriptive study, a total number of 160 nursing and midwifery students, studying at Semnan Azad University participated. The sampling was done through census. For collecting data a questionnaire was used. The questionnaire consisted of two sections. The first section assessed demographic variables and second part was designed to assess students' perception of effective clinical teaching and related factors. Validity of questionnaire was assessed by content validity [panel of experts] and reliability was determined by calculating Cronbach alph with a coefficient of 0.90. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. The majority of students were studying in third semester [58.1%] and were midwifery students and [4 1.9%] were nursing students. According to our participants point of view learner's personal characteristics domain [24/35 +/- 3/6] and learning environment [16/36 +/- 2/94] were the most and the least important factors related to effective clinical teaching. in overall expert clinical teacher had the main role in effective clinical teaching. With regard to what were found in this study, the most important factors for learning of professional skills is interest and motivation, so education system should support this internal feelings and find the methods that prevent these drives

RESUMO

Stress is one of the factors that upset body regulation by changing internal stability. Today, stress is considered as inseparable part of life that has a negative effect on functional competence and health of the person. The purpose of this study was to identify midwifes occupational stressors from the viewpoints of midwifery students studying at medical sciences universities of Tehran in 2006. In this descriptive study a number of 260 midwifery students, studying at Tehran medical sciences universities were selected through census. Data were collected by a questionnaire consisting two parts: demographic characteristics and stressors. The data were analyzed by SPSS program [Pearson correlation coefficient and ANOVA]. The majority of students rated stressors as intermediate or high and the most important stressor were crisis during working [dangerous situations for mother and fetus] and exposure to blood and its products. There was positive correlation between interest to the career and rating stressors and there were significant relationship between mother's occupation and father's education with rating the stressors. Regarding the findings of this study it can be concluded that improving standards and increasing manager supports of staff may have a crucial influence on reducing stressors
