RESUMO

Tuberculosis is still endemic in developing countries. In Morocco, thirty thousand new cases are recorded each year, cutaneous localization represents 1, 4 per cent. The aim of this work is to study the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic features of childhood cutaneous tuberculosis in Morocco. Patients and methods: It is a retrospective study including all cases of childhood cutaneous tuberculosis hospitalized in the dermatology department of the Ibn Sina hospital in Rabat, over a 11 years period. Results: Nine cases were collected. The mean age was 14 years. The clinical features are as follows: gumma [5 cases], scrofuloderma [3 cases], lupus vulgaris [1 case]. The Mantoux test was positive in 88 per cent, tuberculoid granuloma was observed in all the cases. All children responded to antimycobcterial chemotherapy. Conclusion: Gumma and scrofuloderma were the commonest forms found in Moroccan series

RESUMO

Although the occular rosacea affection is not rare, it is usually unknown, sometimes insidiously evolving complications. This is the subject of our case report. A.S is, a 29 years old woman who was followed up during 10 years at ophthalmological department, for blepharitis, keratoconjonctivitis and many invalid functional signs. Diagnosis of rosacea did not reache except after the occurrence of ulcers and corneal leukoma. while the patient had reported earlier about discreet facial telangiectasia. The ocular rosacea frequency is underestimated for many reasons. Different eye structures may be affected, usually announced by evocative functional signs. For improving rosacea management, a tight collaboration between ophthalmologist and dermatologist should be done

RESUMO

Appraise the prevalence of hepatitis C in patients with lichen planus. This is a retrospective study concerning seventeen cases hospitalized for lichen planus between January 1992 December 2001. Hepatic check-up and anti HVC antibodies were searched in all patients. Cutaneous biopsy was systematic. Seventeen patients were hospitalized for lichen planus. The average age was 52.1 years [extreme between 12 years and 75 years]. Four had a positive hepatitis C serology so 23.5 percent of cases. Hepatic check-up was perturbed in three cases. Oral and erosive lesions were presents in here patients. The results of this retrospective study show a high prevalence of hepatitis C in lichen planus particularly with erosive oral lesions suggesting a relation ship between lichen planus and hepatitis C

RESUMO

Scleroderma is uncommon in childhood. The aim of our study was to analyse the frequency of different clinical forms, their prognostic significance and to assess the pertinence of therapeutic options. Patients and method: It is a retrospective study concerning 25 cases of scleroderma in childhood and colliged in the Dermatology Unit of Rabat Ibn-Sina University Hospital Center between 1985 and 2003, excluding patients older than 15 year-old. Localized scleroderma was observed in 18 children and diffuses lesions in 7 children. Localized scleroderma began at a mean age of 10 year-old. The lesions were isolated bands [44%], associated with morphea [11%], or multiple morphea [11%]. Mean duration of the clinical course was longer in cases with more and deeper lesions. Eosinophilia was observed in 11% of cases and antinuclear antibodies were found in 22% of cases. Local and general corticosteroids appeared to be efficient in superficial and active lesions. Diffuse scleroderma began at mean age of 11 year-old. The therapeutic problems were similar to those in adults. In conclusion, scleroderma prognosis depends on functional impairment resulting from major sequelae of localized forms and the life-threatening situations occuring in systemic forms

RESUMO

Atopic dermatitis represents the cutaneous facet of atopic disease. Its prevalence is in a regular increase these last decades. The physiopathology of this dermatitis is complex and not well known, implicating genetic, immunological, biochemical and environmental factors. The onset of Atopic dermatitis can start at any age of life. But it is exceptional before the age of two months; in the same way its onset after 20 years is relatively rare. It is an extremely polymorphous affection in its clinical expression that depends on the age of the subject, which necessitates establishment of diagnostic criteria. In spite of being benignity, atopic dermatitis is a chronic disease affecting negatively the quality of life of the majority of patients. The symptomatic treatment is based on topical corticosteroids and moisturizers. However, a better knowledge about its pathogenesis allows to hope for a therapeutic approach by immunomodulators, especially for the serious cases

RESUMO

The existence in anoperineal region may be the early manifestation of Crohn's disease. The observation showing the association of vulva hypertrophy, anoperineal eczematic - like and fissuring lesions emphasize the difficulty of diagnostis, because of the absence of digestive manifestations. The rude evolution occurs by exacerbation with risk of degeneration of the anal lesions. Thus, we have to emphasize the importance of an early diagnostic in order to start a medical treatment which allows the patient to avoid the various surgical treatments

RESUMO

The dermatological modifications of primary or secondary hypoparathyroidism varies. They seem to be caused by an hormonal deficit of parathormon and by an hypocalcemia. About two observations, the authors describe the relation between the skin and the hpoparathroidosis. This one may appear in a form of a pellagroid condition [first observation], of an erythroderma exfoliative [second observation] or of an eczematic-like eruption. The presence of a bilateral cataract and the attack of hair and nails [alopecia, onycholysis] are classical. The replace treatement on the base of calcium and vitamin D allows to correct the skin attacks and phosphor calcic abnormalities

RESUMO

Dermatological lesions are common in all diabetic types. They can result from degenerative or arteriopathic lesions. They can also be the result of antidiabetic treatment. The lesions aren't really specific but some are very suggestive. Our modest work illustrates the frequency [60%] and the diversity of these manifestations which are relative to the diabetic's age, additionnal diabetic complications, the degree of metabolic control as well as socio-economic factors. It's most important to emphasize the need for education concerning diabetes in an effort to enhance the patient's metabolic control as well as improve hygiene, especially with regard to feet care
