RESUMO

Profenofos insecticide was subjected to different storage conditions at the temperatures 54°C for 14 days, zero °C for 7 days according to FAO specifications [1998] and, in sunny place and in dark place for 360 days according to Egyptian conditions. Chemical stability of profenofos was stable if stored either at 54 °C or zero °C for 14 and 7 days, respectively conformed with Food and Agriculture Organization [FAO] specifications during periods of storage and more degradated in sunny place than in dark place. Physical properties [pH range, Emulsion stability and re-emulsification] became conformity with FAO specification

RESUMO

S-100 protein belongs to the family of ca-binding binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C- and had been considered to be specific for glial and Schwann cells. Recent immunohistochemical studies, however, have revealed the extensive localization of S-100 protein in a variety of cell types of neuroectodermal origin. In the present immunohistochemical study the localization of S-100 protein in the postnatal developing cornea of the rat was studied using a specific polycolonal antibody directed against S-100 protein in immunoperoxidase labelling experiments. S-100 protein was detected in the corneal epithelium, fibroblasts of substantia propria and the endothelium at the age of 10th postnatal day to the adult age. It did not give any activity before the age of 10 days. These results showed that S-100 protein was distributed in both ectodermal tissues [corneal epithelium] and mesodermal tissues [substantia propria and endothelium]. Also, this study suggests that S-100 protein could be expressed in the albino rat cornea just after its maturation and plays an important role in the corneal functions. Further investigations are, however, necessary to clarify the exact role played by S-100 protein in the cornea

RESUMO

The aim of this work was to assess nutritional status of certain fat soluble vitamins [A and E] in patients with CLD and to clarify the effect of their chronic illness on the development of the child. The study included 50 cases of both sexes. Their ages ranged from 7-16 years. They were divided into two groups according to the histological examination of liver biopsy. Results revealed that weight, height and mid-upper arm circumference were markedly affected in all groups. Weight and height were below 5th percentile in 24% of cases and in none of controls. At the same time, only 4% of patients could reach 75th weight percentile compared to 20% of control. Similarly, only 12% of patients could reach 75th height percentile compared to 22.5% of controls. The group with metabolic cirrhosis was the one which was more affected especially regarding weight and height parameters. In early onset group, height was more compromised than in late onset group
