RESUMO

Departments of Radiation Oncology and 2Medical Oncology, Acharya Tulsi Regional Cancer Treatment and Research Institute, Sardar Patel Medical College and Associated Group of Hospitals, 1Department of Ophthalmology, Sardar Patel Medical College and Associated Group of Hospitals, Bikaner, Rajasthan, 3Department of Ophthalmology, MLN Medical College, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India Metastatic lesions to the clivus have been reported in various cancers including lung cancer, prostate carcinoma, skin melanoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma. There have been only a few reports of breast cancer presenting with isolated clival metastasis. We report a case of 35‑year‑old lady, who was known case of breast carcinoma presented with diplopia as the only sign of clival metastasis. The etiology was established by magnetic resonance imaging which showed an enhancing lesion in the clivus. The diagnosis of clival metastasis from breast cancer was confirmed by transsphenoidal biopsy.

RESUMO

The extra-abdominal form of desmoid tumor is very rare and the incidence of mammary desmoid tumor is <0.2% of primary breast neoplasm. We report a case of mammary fibromatosis in an elderly female in which no associated risk factor was discernible. After simple mastectomy as per the patient’s wish, in view of posterior margin positivity, adjuvant radiotherapy was given. The patient has remained recurrence free after one year of follow up.

RESUMO

Lymphoepitheloid lymphoma, also referred to as Lennert‟s lymphoma is a T-cell lymphoma characterized by the massive proliferation of epithelial cell clusters infiltrating normal lymph nodal architecture along with lymphoid cells. Epithelial cells can also be associated with infectious lymphadenopathy and Hodgkin‟s lymphoma. This presents a diagnostic dilemma. We present a case of Lennert‟s lymphoma along with review of literature with special emphasis on morphological features and immmunohistochemistry findings.

RESUMO

Neuroendocrine carcinomas are epithelial neoplasm with predominant neuroendocrine differentiation. Mostly they are found in gastrointestinal and respiratory system. In the nasal and paranasal sinus regions, squamous cell carcinoma is the most common tumor, followed by adenocarcinoma, malignant lymphoma, sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, and olfactory neuroblastoma. Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of head and neck region is extremely rare. Until now, very few cases of neuroendocrine tumors of paranasal sinuses have been documented. Compared to other organ systems, the neuroendocrine carcinoma involving sinuses are much more aggressive and with poor prognosis. The rarity of this carcinoma has restricted the understanding of its etiology and clinical outcome. We herein reporting a case of large cell poorly differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of maxilla with orbital extension with the purpose of analysis of the available information of this rare malignancy.

RESUMO

All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), a derivative of vitamin A, is the first line drug for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). At the same time, ATRA is also associated with various side effects, including some life threatening conditions. We describe a case of ATRA-induced pseudotumor cerebri in an adult patient of APL.

RESUMO

Ototoxicity is a well-known complication of certain chemotherapeutic agents. There have been few reports of ototoxicity following administration of vincristine. However, vinblastine has seldom been implicated causing ototoxicity. We report a case of sudden bilateral hearing loss in a 32-year-old male patient of classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma following standard adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine chemotherapy.

RESUMO

As per Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), there are clear cut compensation guidelines for clinical trial participants in case of death and injury after amendment in schedule Y (Rule 122DAB - Compensation in case of injury or death during clinical trial). The purpose of these guidelines is to provide Severe Adverse Event (SAE) compensation calculation as well as determination of the ratio of amount in clinical trial injury.

RESUMO

Levofloxacin is a commonly prescribed antibiotic for treating bacterial infections in routine clinical practice. A wide range of side-effects have been ascribed to the quinolone group of drugs, the most common being gastrointestinal. Central nervous system is rarely involved; neuropsychiartic complications are among the least reported adverse reactions. We report a rare case of levofloxacin induced acute psychosis in a young male presenting in out-patient department with signs of urinary tract infection along with pneumonitis.
