Background: Aerodigestive foreign bodies are common clinical problem that may lead to life threatening complications or sudden death. It's commonly seen in children since they are curious to explore environmental objects with their mouth, while the development of airway protection reflexes and chewing capacity are immature
Objectives: This study aims to assess the extent of parents' awareness about the danger of foreign objects that can be swallowed or inhaled by their children and how to manage such cases
Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was used to assess the level of parents' awareness about the danger of swallowing or inhaling foreign objects by their children and to assess their knowledge about dealings with such cases. The data were collected from 459 by a distributed questionnaire among parents in Al-sharqiya
Results: 60.3% of participants were aware of aerodigestive foreign bodies. Regarding the management of child with aerodigestive foreign bodies in different age groups. For child with age group 1 year and less, about [34.9%] of participants were aware of the management. However, there is misunderstanding of managing child with age 5 years and less where only 5.6% of participants were aware of the management in this age group. As regards the children more than 5 years old, only 36.2% of parents were aware of the management
Conclusion: The current study showed that most parents are lacking knowledge about the management of this problem which reflect the importance of education and increasing the awareness among them to reduce the morbidly and mortality rate among children

Background: Epistaxis is a common disorder that affect most of population at least once in their life. It has been estimated that 60% of people have experienced an episode of epistaxis once in their lifetime. Thirty percent of all children aged 0-5 years, 56%of those aged 6-10 years, and 64% of those aged 11-15 years, have had at least one episode in their lifetime
Objective: We would like to know the prevalence of epistaxis among medical students in Al-Ahssa, Saudi Arabia
Materials and methods: After ethical approval, data information was collected through a questionnaire that involves 183 medical students in April 2014. Statistical analysis computed using SPSS
Results: 15% of Al-Ahssa medical students have history of epistaxis, family of epistaxis is significant in those students
Conclusion: The prevalence of epistaxis among medical students in Al-Ahssa, Saudi Arabia is considered significant with strong family history

Background: Epistaxis is the bleeding from nose or nasal cavity and it is considered as one of the most common emergencies presenting in Ear, Nose and Throat [ENT] department and Accident and Emergency department worldwide
Objective and aim: the aim of this study was to assess and evaluate knowledge, attitude and practice of first aid management of epistaxis among medical students in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Methods: A cross-sectional community-based studies were collected using electronic questionnaire distributed among medical students all over the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study was conducted between September and Jan 2018
Results: Data was collected from 300 medical students from all over the kingdom of Saudi Arabia using questionnaires, which were filled electronically. Majority of the respondents were female with [75.7%] while [24.3 %] of the respondents were male. Most of the participants were from 4[th] and 5[th] year with [25.0%][24.3%] respectively. [39.7%] of the participants respond that fingernail trauma is the commonest cause of the epistaxis follow by bleeding disorder with [17.3%]. [64.0%] of the respondents think that epistaxis is an emergency condition require early intervention. [71%] of the respondents demonstrated the correct position as epistaxis first aid measure and only 41.3 % of respondents demonstrated the correct site for pinching the nose. The main source of the respondent's knowledge regarding first aid management of epistaxis was self-taught [53.67%] followed by medical books [23.33%]
In Conclusion: medical students in Saudi Arabia have an adequate knowledge about epistaxis and first aid measure which can be used to manage epistaxis
