RESUMO

The development in electronic information networks education system seem to make use of it in diffusing its possibilities to the public educational institutions including universities which create their own network, as a result of which in a single network is expected to develop in future. This can further enhance the scope of providing education in a better way. Hence the knowledge and utilization of ICT and its components are essential for the present and future teachers. The knowledge about E-Resources and its utilization by the higher education teachers is inevitable and it is a desperate one for a teacher in this digital era. This paper discusses about the utilization of EResources among the Colleges of Education Teachers. This paper will be helpful to get a scenario about utilizing EResources by teachers serving at the Arts Colleges.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Mycoplasmas have been implicated in causing minor to severe respiratory infections in man. Mycoplasmas are considered to act as cofactors in patients with AIDS. A preliminary study was conducted to isolate mycoplasmas from sputum specimens of AIDS patients and non-HIV patients with underlying pulmonary symptoms and signs. METHODS: A total of 130 sputum samples (100 from AIDS patients and 30 from non-HIV) were cultured on standard pleuropneumonia-like organisms (PPLO) glucose agar up to 3 wk. The plates were examined for the presence of fried-egg colonies characteristic of Mycoplasma. Subsequently the plates were stained using Diene's stain. Sputum specimens from the AIDS patients were also screened for other bacterial pathogens. RESULTS: Mycoplasmas were detected from 36 (36%) of the AIDS patients and only 5 (16.6%) of the non HIV control individuals with underlying pulmonary symptoms. Data on the detection rates of other microorganisms from the AIDS cases were also analysed. INTERPRETATION & CONCLUSION: This preliminary study provided supportive evidence that mycoplasma colonized in upper respiratory tract of individuals with AIDS to a larger extent than that of the non HIV subjects with pulmonary symptoms. Further studies need to be done to characterize mycoplasma isolates to species level.

RESUMO

Ten children from each group of nursing caries, rampant caries, 3-5 dmft/DMFT and caries free children were selected and plaque samples from carious lesion, early carious lesion, sound tooth surface as well as salivary sample were collected. The levels of mutans streptococci and lactobacilli were estimated at all the sample sites. The result further supported the role of mutans streptococci in the initiation and of lactobacilli in the progression of the dental caries.
