RESUMO

ABSTRACT Objective: To explore the effect of ischemic postconditioning on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion-induced acute lung injury (ALI). Methods: Forty adult male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into sham operation group (SO group), myocardial ischemia-reperfusion group (IR group), ischemic preconditioning group (IPRE group) and ischemic postconditioning group (IPOST group) (10 mice in each group). Anterior descending coronary artery was blocked for 60 min and then reperfused for 15 min to induce myocardial IR. For the IPRE group, 3 consecutive cycles of 5 min of occlusion and 5 minutes of reperfusion of the coronary arteries were performed before ischemia. For the IPOST group, 3 consecutive cycles of 5 min reperfusion and 5 minutes of occlusion of the coronary arteries were performed before reperfusion. Pathological changes of lung tissue, lung wet-to-dry (W/D) weight ratio, inflammatory factors, oxidative stress indicators, apoptosis of lung cells and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) protein were used to evaluate lung injury. Results: After myocardial IR, lung injury worsened significantly, manifested by alveolar congestion, hemorrhage, structural destruction of alveolar septal thickening, and interstitial neutrophil infiltration. In addition, lung W/D ratio was increased, plasma inflammatory factors, including interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and IL-17A, were increased, malondialdehyde (MDA) activity of lung tissue was increased, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was decreased after myocardial IR. It was accompanied by the increased protein expression levels of ERS-related protein glucose regulatory protein 78 (GRP78), CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP) homologous protein (CHOP), and caspase-12, and the increased apoptotic indices of lung tissues. Conclusion: IPOST can effectively improve myocardial IR-induced ALI by inhibiting ERS-induced apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells.

RESUMO

Objective@#To examine the effects of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on body composition and cardiorespiratory fitness of obese primary school students, so as to provide a theoretical basis and practical reference for HIIT exercise prescription in schools.@*Methods@#From August to December 2022, 25 obese children [age:(11.0±0.4)years, BMI:(23.3±0.8)kg/m 2] from a primary school in Shenzhen were recruited and divided into an exercise group ( n =13) and a control group ( n =12). After 12 weeks of exercise intervention [The durations of load period and intermittent period were 15 s, load exercise intensity was 100% maximal aerobic speed (MAS), and intermittent exercise intensity was 50% MAS, each time there were 2 groups× 8 rounds, and the rest between groups was 2 minutes, totaling 10 minutes, and 20 meter shuttle run test (20 m-SRT) was performed once every 4 weeks to adjust and update MAS], the changes in body composition and cardio respiratory fitness indexes of obese subjects before and after the intervention were compared.@*Results@#After the intervention, body weight, BMI, body fat, body fat percentage, and visceral adipose tissue area of obese subjects in the exercise group decreased from (55.6±6.2)kg, (22.7±0.6)kg/m 2, (41.8±6.9)kg, ( 23.4± 5.5)% and (102.4±39.0)cm 2 to (52.3±5.8)kg, (21.1±0.8)kg/m 2, (38.6±6.3)kg, (20.2±4.5)% and (84.2±26.9)cm 2, respectively( t =8.73, 10.96, 7.02, 4.92, 4.95, P <0.05). SBP decreased from (115.4±9.7)mmHg to (112.3±8.7)mmHg ( t = 2.96 , P <0.05). The content of skeletal muscle, 20 m-SRT and VO 2max increased from (21.3±5.3)kg, (21.6±4.9) times and (39.4±2.0)mL/(kg ·min) to (21.8±5.2)kg, (31.4±6.3)times and (43.6±2.6)mL/(kg ·min), respectively ( t =-3.33, -8.37, -10.56 , P <0.05).@*Conclusions@#HIIT is an effective way to improve the body composition and cardiorespiratory fitness of obese primary school students. It is recommended that schools with the necessary conditions use this method as an intervention measure to help reduce weight and improve cardiovascular health among obese students.

RESUMO

Objective@#To analyze the hotspots, frontiers, and future research trends related to puberty development among children and adolescents from 2013 to 2022, and to provide a reference for subsequent research related to puberty development.@*Methods@#Data related to puberty development from 2013 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection with the search formula "puberty timing (title) OR puberty development (title) OR pubertal timing (title) OR pubertal development (title) OR puberty timing (abstract) OR puberty development (abstract) OR pubertal timing (abstract) OR pubertal development (abstract)". The CiteSpace was used for visual analysis.@*Results@#A total of 6 684 publications were obtained and an upward trend could be seen in the number of publications in the field of puberty development in the last 10 years. Researchers with a high number of publications were Juul Anders, Brix Nis, and Ernst Andreas, in addition, the United States had the highest number of publications ( 2 125 ) and the highest betweenness centrality (0.23) in this field. In the last decade, research hotspots had focused on the timing of pubertal initiation, biological mechanisms of pubertal development, and sex differences in pubertal development. Research on environmental endocrine disruptors and the mechanisms of pubertal development were at the forefront of research and future research trends.@*Conclusion@#Scholars can refer to the research hotspots and research trends in this field and focus on the issues related to environmental endocrine disruptors and pubertal development mechanisms.

RESUMO

@#The Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) phage, as one of the principal pathogenic bacteria of dental caries, is a main cause of the formation and development of dental caries due to its overproliferation in dental plaque biofilms. Bacterial viruses, also known as bacteriophages, have the capability of specifically infecting bacteria and effectively degrading bacterial biofilms. S. mutans phages, therefore, may prevent and control caries. Therapy based on phages has been applied in many fields, but the application of S. mutans phages in caries remains exploratory. This article will review the research progress of S. mutans phages in clinical caries prevention, aiming to provide a new idea for the clinical prevention of caries. The results of the literature review show that the living bacteriophage system has the advantages of high specificity, high affinity and good safety. However, due to its unstable structure, it can be processed into a more stable formulation by freeze-drying, spray drying, adding stability enhancers, or incorporating bacteriophages into ointments, biodegradable polymer matrices or particles to a certain extent to improve stability. The lysozyme produced by phages can digest the bacterial cell wall and release the assembled phage particles, which effectively cleave biofilms. In addition, the antigen binding fragment library for cariogenic pathogens was screened by phage display technology, and the purpose of caries prevention and treatment was achieved by passive immunization of antigen binding fragments. However, the host range of bacteriophages is narrow, so this kind of problem can be overcome by phage combined with traditional therapy or other drug use or cocktail therapy with multiple phages in clinical caries prevention and control.
