Estado de salud bucal en pacientes hipertensos / Oral health status in hypertensive patients

RESUMEN Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y de corte transversal en 40 pacientes hipertensos mayores de 15 años de edad, de ambos sexos, pertenecientes al consultorio médico 20-32 del Policlínico Universitario «Martha Abreu de Estévez¼, del municipio Santa Clara, provincia Villa Clara. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar el estado de salud bucal de estos pacientes. Se investigaron las siguientes variables: edad, sexo, afecciones bucodentales, índice COP e índice periodontal de Russell con la forma del examen según el Programa de Detección del Cáncer Bucal, y las necesidades de tratamiento estomatológico. Predominaron: el sexo femenino (con una buena higiene bucal), las edades de más de 60 años, la enfermedad periodontal en el sexo masculino, y la necesidad de tratamiento protésico.

ABSTRACT A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 40 hypertensive patients over 15 years of age, of both genders, belonging to the 20-32 doctor's office at "Martha Abreu de Estévez" University Polyclinic, Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara province. The objective of the research was to determine oral health status of these patients. Age, gender, oral diseases, COP index and Russell's periodontal index with the form of the Oral Cancer Detection Program examination, as well as needs for dental treatment were the investigated variables. Female gender (with good oral hygiene), ages of more than 60 years, periodontal disease in male gender, and need for prosthetic treatment predominated.

Promoción de salud bucal a docentes de la Escuela Especial «Rolando Pérez Quintosa¼ / Oral health promotion in teachers from "Rolando Pérez Quintosa" Special School

RESUMEN La educación es considerada como la herramienta fundamental en la promoción de salud y la prevención de enfermedades, pues contribuye a desarrollar actitudes positivas hacia la salud en general, y específicamente, la salud bucal. Se realizó un estudio de intervención educativa en 34 educadores de la Escuela Especial «Rolando Pérez Quintosa¼ del municipio Santa Clara, provincia Villa Clara. El principal objetivo fue identificar las necesidades de aprendizaje sobre salud bucal. Se diseñó y aplicó un programa educativo que contó con siete temas. Al concluir la intervención, el nivel de información alcanzado por los educadores fue efectivo.

ABSTRACT Education is considered the fundamental tool in health promotion and disease prevention, since it contributes to develop positive attitudes towards health in general and oral health specifically. An educational intervention study was carried out in 34 teachers belonging to "Rolando Pérez Quintosa" Special School from Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara province. The main objective was to identify oral health learning needs. An educational program with 7 topics was designed and applied. At the end of the intervention, the level of information reached by the teachers was effective.
