RESUMO

Myeloperoxidase antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA) associated vasculitis is an autoimmune disease usually with severe multiple dysfunction syndrome, especially prominent acute renal failure. A 65-year-old woman was admitted with progressive dyspnoea for six months and fever, sputum with blood, pain of the lower extremities and intermittent claudication for two days, indicating multiple organ involvement (respiratory system, blood vessels). The renal involvement was relatively mild, presenting with microscopic haematuria. The chest computed tomography demonstrated multiple pulmonary embolisms. Ultrasound and computed tomography angiography for the lower extremity vessels showed venous and arterial thrombosis. Exclusion of other diseases that can cause multiple organ damage and thrombosis, the positive perinuclear ANCA and MPO-ANCA strongly support the diagnosis of MPO-ANAC-associated vasculitis. The patient's physical condition has been greatly improved by treatment with corticosteroids and anticoagulation.

RESUMO

Filtering bleb scarring is the main cause of glaucoma filtration surgery failure. Subconjunctival injection of antimetabolites, such as mitomycin and 5-fluorouracil, is widely used clinically to reduce the incidence of scarring, which improves the success rate of the surgery. However, accompanied side effects such as cytotoxicity should not be ignored. Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) as a matricellular protein is widely distributed in the eyes, which plays an important role in the process of wound repairing and tissue remodeling. The expression of SPARC is significantly elevated in the mouse model of subconjunctival scarring. Researches suggest that SPARC participates in and regulate the formation of bleb scarring through multiple pathways, therefore it may become a specific new target in the anti-scarring therapy.

RESUMO

Objective· To analyze and compare the subfoveal choroidal thickness and macular ganglion cell layer (MGCL) thickness in hyperopia anisometropic amblyopic children between the amblyopic eyes and the fellow eyes. Methods · The subfoveal choroidal thickness and the MGCL thickness were measured by enhanced depth imaging spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) in 63 hyperopic anisometropic amblyopic children. The value of subfoveal choroidal thickness and the MGCL thickness were compared between the amblyopic eyes and the fellow eyes. The average thickness of the eyes between the different types was compared using the paired t test. Results· Mean subfoveal choroidal thickness was (321.83±12.74) μm and (316.78±18.76) μm respectively in amblyopic and fellow eyes (P 0.182).Mean MGCL thickness was (83.78±4.81) μm in amblyopic eyes and (83.26±4.17) μm in the fellow eyes (P=0.223).Conclusion· Mean subfoveal choroidal thickness and MGCL thickness were not statistically significant between hyperopic anisometropic amblyopic eyes and normal fellow eyes.
