RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and gemcitabine on xenograft growth in nude mice bearing human pancreatic cancer.

METHODSNude mouse models bearing subcutaneous human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC-1 xenograft were randomized into 4 groups, including a control group and 3 treatment groups subjected to treatments with HIFU, gemcitabine, or both. After the treatments, the tumor was measured on a weekly basis for 5 weeks, and the tumor growth curve was drawn. The tumor inhibition rate was calculated and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the tumor tissue was examined by immunohistochemistry.

RESULTSThe tumor volume showed significant differences between the 3 treatment groups (P<0.01), but all significantly smaller than that in the control group; HIFU combined with gemcitabine resulted in the most obvious reduction in the tumor volume. VEGF expression in the tumor tissue was the lowest in the combined treatment group and the highest in the control group.

CONCLUSIONHIFU therapy produces definite therapeutic effect on human pancreatic cancer in the nude mouse model, and its combination with chemotherapy is the optimal treatment modality.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical effect of low-intensity ultrasound in promoting uterine involution following cesarean section.

METHODSA total of 122 women undergoing cesarean section were randomly selected and divided into low-intensity ultrasound treatment group (67 cases) and control group (55 cases). The women in the treatment group received daily low-intensity ultrasound treatment for 30 min 24 h after the delivery for 3 consecutive days, and the control group had no particular treatments. The descent of the uterine fundus and cessation of lochia was observed in the two groups.

RESULTSThe treatment group showed obviously greater descent of the uterine fundus with a higher rate of cessation of vaginal bleeding than the control group at 30 days postpartum. The ratio of incomplete uterine involution was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group.

CONCLUSIONLow-intensity ultrasound is effective in promoting uterine contraction and uterine involution following cesarean section.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of ultrasound stimulation at the acupoint Guanyuan (CV 4) on follicular development in menopausal rats.

METHODSMenopausal female SD rats were selected by vaginal smear examinations. The rats were subjected to ultrasound stimulation at the acupoint Guanyuan with the output power of 0.1 W, working frequency of 9 MHz, and focal length of 4.5-5 mm. Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay was used to detect the serum estrogen levels of the menopausal rats. The changes in the ovarian tissue histology and the follicle number were observed.

RESULTSCompared with the control group, a 10-day ultrasound stimulation for 10 and 5 min daily at Guanyuan significantly increased the serum estrogen levels and the numbers of primary and secondary follicles (P<0.05) and reduced the number of atretic follicles in the menopausal rats (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONUltrasound stimulation at the acupoint Guanyuan can increase the estrogen secretion function and promote the development of follicles in menopausal rats.

RESUMO

AIM: To investigate the effects of goat placenta immunoregulating factor(GPIF) on the expression of costimulatory molecules lineaged T cells in BALB/c mice.METHODS: Animal model for immunodeficiency made from BALB/c mice with whole-body irradiation by 5 Gy 60Co?-ray was applied for research. The immunosuppressive mice were injected with GPIF for seven days continuously.FACS was applied to analyze the rate of CD28+,CD152+,CD4+CD28+,CD8+CD28+,CD4+CD152+ and CD8+CD152+ cells in splenic lymphocytes and ELISA method was employed to measure the amount of IL-2 and IFN-? in serum of mice.RESULTS: GPIF increased the percentage of CD28+,CD4+CD28+ and CD8+CD28+ cells(P

RESUMO

Objective:To study the humoral immunity effect of goat placenta immunoregulatory factor(GPIF).Methods:Basing on BALB/c mice, the study was carried out by determining the proliferation of B lymphocyte in mice spleen with MTT method, the level of IgM with PFC test, and the level of IgG secreted by mice B cell in vivo and in vitro with ELISA test. Results:GPIF could effeciently increase the level of antibody in vivo.Direct experiment on splenic B lymphocyte,GPIF could also improve the level of antibody in vitro and enable mice lymphocyte induced by LPS to proliferate efficiently. Conclusion:GPIF conld enhance humoral immunity function and recover the ability of humoral immunity in mice with immunodeficiency.
