RESUMO

Objective:To explore the mechanism of the embolism and sclerotherapy of fibrin glue combined with bleomycin (FG/BLM) for the treatment of cervicofacial vascular malformations by color doppler ultrasound.Methods:10 patients with venous malformation(VM) and 10 patients with arterio-venous malformation(AVM) were included.All patients underwent embolism and sclerotherapy of FG/BLM guided by ultrasound.Color doppler ultrasound was used to record the real-time two-dimensional ultrasonography and color doppler image.The flow and distribution of FG/BLM after injection into the lesions were observed.Results:Two-dimensional ultrasonography showed clumps or flake strong echo after immediate injection of FG/BLM into the cavity of VMs,then floated in the abnormal venous lumen and diffused throughout the cavity.At the later stage the lesions were filled by a large number of flocculent and netted low echo,and patchy strong echo.The volume of VMs cavity expanded dramaticlly,and the blood flow signal was significantly decreased.After injection of FG/BLM into the lumen of AVMs,clumps or flake strong echo were observed,then most of the snowflake strong echo rapidly filled or scattered along with blood stream to the distal part of the vessels.The color doppler showed significantly decrease of blood flow signal.Conclusion:FG/BLM injection can embolize and block the draining vein of VM,and play a role on the storage of sclerozing agent.FG/BLM injection can embolize both the dilated blood vessels and capillary network of AVM.

RESUMO

Objective:To observe the protective effect of deproteinized extract of calf blood (DECB) on the kidney injury of the diabetic rats, and to discuss its mechanism preliminarily.Methods:The male Wistar rats were intraperitoneally injected with STZ (65 mg·kg-1) to establish the diabetes models, then the model rats were randomly divided into model (M)group, and metformin (MMet, 105 mg·kg-1) group , low dose of combined administration (ML,105 mg·k-1 metformin+94.5 mg·kg-1 ,DECB) group, medium dose of combined administration(MM, 105 mg·kg-1 metformin+ 189 mg·kg-1 DECB) group, high dose of combined administration(MH, 105 mg·kg-1 metformin +378 mg·kg-1,DECB) group, another ten Wistar rats were selected as normal control(NC)group.The rats were intragastrically administed with metformin and intraperitoneally injected with DECB, once a day, total of 8 weeks.The rats in NC group and M group were given normal saline solution.The weights and blood glucose levels of the rats in various groups were determined;the levels of serum high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), urinary albumin (UAlb), urine creatinine (UCR), serum creatinine (SCr), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), uric acid (UA), glutathione (GSH), and malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected;the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were determined.The pathological changes of kidney tissue of the rats in various groups were detected by HE staining.Results:Compared with NC group, the weight of the rats in M group was reduced(P<0.05),and the levels of blood glucose,UAlb,UCr,SCr,UA,BUN,LDL-C,TC,TG,and MDA were increased(P<0.05);the levels of HDL-C and GSH were obviously reduced(P<0.05),and the activities of SOD adn GSH-Px were obviously reduced(P<0.05).Compared with M group,the weights of the rats in MM and MH groups were increased (P<0.05), and the levels of blood glucose,UAlb,UCr,SCr,UA,BUN,LDL-C,TC,TG, and MDA were decreased (P< 0.05);the levels of HDL-C and GSH were increased (P<0.05),and the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were increased (P<0.05).The pathological observation of kidney tissue showed that the rats in M group had obvios kidney tissue lesions with glomerular congestion and renal tubular edema compared with NC group;compared with M group,the pathological changes of the kidney tissue of the rats in drug administration groups were significantly improved, the renal tubular vacuoles were reduced, and the interstitial hyperplasia was not obvious.Conclusion:DECB combined with metformin can reduce the blood glucose level, regulate blood lipid, improve the pathological changes of kidney tissue in the diabetic rats, reduce the renal damage, and enhance the antioxidant capacity of the body.

Objective:To observe the protective effect of deproteinized extract of calf blood (DECB)on the ethanol-induced liver injury of the mice,and to preliminaryly discuss its mechanism. Methods:Sixty healthy ICR mice were divided into control group,model group,positive drug group,low,medium and high doses of DECB groups (n=10).By intragastric administration,the mice in control group were given 20 mL·kg-1 saline solution, the mice in low,medium and high doses of DECB groups were administrated with 0.125,0.250,0.500 g·kg -1 DECB,and the mice in positive drug group were administrated with 0.63 g·kg -1 Hugan Tablets;once a day for 30 d. 1 h after the last administration,except control group,the mice in other groups were administrated with one-time grant of 50% ethanol 14 mL·kg -1 ,and fasted for 16 h to establish the models of acute alcohol liver injury.The endurance alcohol time and drunk time of the mice were determined,the activities of aspartate aminotransferase (ALT)and alanine transaminase (AST)activity in serum of the mice were detected,the levels of triglyceride (TG),glutathione (GSH)and malonic dialdehyde (MDA)in liver tissue were determined,and the pathological changes of liver tissue were detected.Results:Compared with model group,the drunk symptoms of the mice in different doses of DECB groups were obviously reduced,the endurance time of the mice in high dose of DECB group and positive drug group was prolonged (P <0.05),and the drinking time was shortened (P <0.05);the ALT and AST activities in serum in mediun and high doses of DECB groups were significantly lower than those in model group (P <0.05).Compared with model group,the MDA and TG levels in liver tissue of the mice in medium and high doses of DECB groups and positive drug group were obviously reduced,and the GSH levels were increased (P <0.05);compared with model group,the pathological damages of liver tissue of the mice in high dose of DECB group caused by ethanol were significantly reduced.Conclusion:DECB can improve ethanol-induced liver injury which may be related to the inhibition of hepatic oxidative stress response.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To develope a three-dimensional finite element model based on the individual occlusal contact data to analyze the influence of occlusal contact on the stress distribution in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>CT, cone-beam CT (CBCT), MRI and 3D scanner were used to create a three-dimensional finite element model of the stomatognathic system, which reflected the accurate morphological characteristics of the occlusal surface. The contact area was marked on the occlusal surface of the teeth based on the individual occlusal contact data obtained during the maximal volunteer clenching (MVC). Two occlusal contact conditions including normal occlusion and unilateral posterior crossbite (UPC) were constructed. The models were fixed on the contact areas to simulate the MVC condition in order to analyze the stress distribution in the TMJ.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The stress distribution of the TMJ was approximately symmetrical in normal occlusion, but the stress values were somewhat different. No significant difference was found in stress distribution between UPC and normal occlusion, but the values were significantly higher on the crossbite side. The maximum values of von Mises stress were 10.35, 3.82, 3.59 MPa, on condylar process, articular disk, articular fossa of the crossbite side, respectively while on the corresponding side of the normal occlusion maximum values were 7.32, 3.18, 2.84 MPa, respectively.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The stress distribution of the TMJ in three-dimensional finite element model which indicated the personal occlusal contact was highly sensitive to the change of the occlusal contact. The abnormal occlusal contact caused by the UPC could lead to the stress concentration of the TMJ on the crossbite side.</p>

Fused teeth is defined as the union of enamel and dentin of two or more teeth germs,yielding a single tooth during tooth develop-ment.Their treatment is complex and usually need multidisciplinary approaches.This report presents a case of fused teeth treated by he-misection and discusses the clinical features and treatment options.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the factors related to the of disc displacement in temporomandibular joint disorder(TMD). Methods: The angles of disc anterior displacemen were measured on arthrography of temporomandibular joints in 90 patients with TMD, then the relationship between the angles and symptoms, signs, condyle positions, osteoarthrosis and mouth opening degree were analysed. Results: ①AOB angle in the patients with reducibility of anterior disk displacement(ADwR) was smaller than in those with non reducible anterior displacement (ADw/oR); ②Patients suffered from chronic ADw/oR had smaller degree of mouth opening and larger disc displacement than those with ADwR's. Conclusion: The disc anterior displacement and condyle displacement in glenoid fossa may be correlated with articular remodeling.Prolonging coursees may not always result in the changing of disc structures.

RESUMO

Objective: To review the effect of the treatment of maxillofacial and cervical tumor with external cervical atery intervention technique(ECAI). Methods: 92 cases of maxillofacial and cervical tumor were treated with ECAI. Therapeutic embolization was conducted in 30 cases, arteroy perfusion in 42 and opacification in 20. The patients were cared psycologically befor operation, monitored carefully in operation, especially for contrast medium responsing, antitumor drug responsing,embolisming responsing, etc. Results: Permanent embolization was achieved in 5 cases of hemangioma, bleeding was reduced by 75% in 25 cases treated with subsidiary embolization, local and general condition was improved in 32 patients with malignant tumor by perfusion of antitumor drug. Accuration of angiography was achieved in 93% of the cases. Complications were found in 7 cases and cured after treatment but in 1 who died of cerebrovascular disease. Conclusion: Perioperative monitoring is important to eliminate complications of ECAI.
