RESUMO
Considerando que as crenças docentes podem influenciar as relações com alunos e as estratégias didáticas, esta pesquisa objetivou analisar as teorias implícitas de professoras sobre a natureza, origem e desenvolvimento da inteligência. Participaram 60 professoras de escolas de Ensino Fundamental, das redes pública e privada. Foi utilizado um questionário consistindo numa escala Likert de quatro níveis, elaborado com base em instrumentos da literatura. Os resultados foram analisados quantitativamente. De modo geral, as professoras tenderam a concordar com a maleabilidade e multidimensionalidade da inteligência, porém foram identificadas algumas diferenças entre as teorias implícitas das professoras segundo a rede, com as professoras da rede particular apresentando maior discordância de afirmações que concebem a inteligência como um traço fixo e de origem genética.
Considering that teacher's beliefs can influence the relationships with students and teaching strategies, this study aimed to analyze teachers' implicit theories about the nature, origin and development of intelligence. Participants were 60 teachers, from public and private elementary schools. A questionnaire was used consisting of a Likert scale of four levels, based on instruments developed in the literature. The results were analyzed quantitatively. In general, the teachers tended to agree with the flexibility and multidimensionality of intelligence, however we identified some differences between implicit theories of teachers from public and private schools, with the latter showing greater disagreement of statements that conceive intelligence as a fixed trait and whose origin is genetic.
