RESUMO

In recent years, sphincter preservation and improvement of quality of life have become the primary goals in the management of low-lying rectal cancer. For lesions within 2 cm from the dentate line or more than 5 cm from the anal margin, abdominoperineal resection results in permanent stoma creation while intersphincteric resection (ISR) provides solution to sphincter function preservation and improved quality of life. This review was to summarize the current literature pertaining to this procedure, including current research progress, indications, development of ISR procedure, oncological and functional outcomes.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effects of Qingjiefang on insulin resistance and reduction of microalbuminuria in early diabetic nephropathy. Methods A total of 64 patients with early diabetic nephropathy were randomly recruited into a control group and a treatment group. The control group(32 cases)was treated with conventional western medicine, while the treatment group(32 cases)was treated with Qingjiefang based on the control group. The changes of the fasting plasma glucose(FPG),2hBG,glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlC),fasting Insulin(FINS),24 hours urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER).body mass index(BMI)and insulin resistance(IR)were observed before and after the treatment. Results After the treatment,FINS,IR and UAER were decreased in the treatment group, the comparison with the control group showed significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion Qingjiefang can effectively improve insulin resistance and prevent early diabetic nephropathy.

RESUMO

One hundred and ninety-three patients undergoing transvaginal hysterectomy for cicatrix uterus (study group), 200 patients receiving transabdominal hysterectomy for cicatrix uterus (control group Ⅰ), and 200 patients having transvaginal hysterectomy for non-prolapsed uterus (control group Ⅱ) were retrospectively analyzed. In comparison with the control group Ⅰ, the study group showed a significantly reduced operation time and the average volume of blood loss (P < 0.01). Moreover, patients in the study group had shorter postoperative recovery time (P < 0.01) . The incidence of postoperative fever was decreased in the study group. There was no significant difference in complications of the vaginal wound between the three groups (P 0.05). This investigation demonstrates that transvaginal hysterectomy might be feasible and safe in removing cicatrix non-prolapsed uterus.

RESUMO

Objective Observe the relation of phlegm-dampness constitution and insulin resistance in first-degree non-diabetic relatives of patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods Collected first-degree relatives without mabetes of patients with type 2 diabetic patients 87 cases.Among these 87 cases,39 cases were phlegm-dampness constitution and 48 were not.Fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and fasting insulin(FINS)were measured, and insulin resistance index(IR)was calculated. Results There were significant differences between the two groups in FINS and IR(P<0.05)..Conclusion The IR of the First-degree non-diabetic relatives with phlegm-dampness constitution of patients with type 2 diabetes have greater insulin resistance than the First-degree non-diabetic relatives with non-phlegm-dampness constitution of patients with type 2 diabetes.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo construct DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair protein hKu70 deficient cell strain and to observe its biological characters for studying the functions of hKu70 gene and the effects of occupational harmfulness factors on DSB repair.

METHODSHuman lung fibroblasts (HLF) were transfected with the eukaryotic expression plasmids of hKu70 gene antisense RNA (pEGFP-C1-K) to construct hKu70 protein deficient cells (named as "HLFK"). The protein expression levels of hKu70 gene in HLFC and HLFK were detected by the Western blotting to estimate the effects of antisense inhibition. Morphology, growth character and growth status in soft agar of transfected HLFK were observed.

RESULTSpEGFP-C1-K vector was successfully expressed in HLF. The protein expression level of hKu70 gene in HLFK was decreased by 42% as compared with that in HLFC. No obvious changes of the biologic characters were observed in HLFK.

CONCLUSIONThe hKu70 protein deficient cell strain was successfully constructed. The hKu70 protein deficiency alone didn't induce obvious changes of the biological characters in HLFK.

RESUMO

AIM: To search for the potent telomerase inhibitors with structures of cationic porphyrins to improve the interactions between G-quadruplex and porphyrins by systematically varying the meso substituents. METHOD: Porphyrins bearing mixed 3-quinolyl/3-pyridyl meso groups were synthesized using the Adler-Longo method by condensation of aldehydes with pyrrole, followed by methylation and ion-exchange. The compounds were tested for the telomerase inhibitory activity and c-Myc inhibitory activity. RESULT: All compounds were found to be potent and approximately equivalent in terms of their ability to inhibit the action of telomerase in a cell-free assay. Compound 4 had the best inhibitory activity on c-Myc.
