RESUMO

The prevalence of depression in mothers of children with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy was as high as 91%, while the risk factors are still unclear. To analyze the risk factors for symptoms of depression in mothers of children with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 41 mothers of children with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy at Haji Adam Malik Hospital from February to May 2016. Subjects were selected by consecutive sampling technique. The mothers were interviewed to obtain demographic data. Symptoms depression level was assessed using Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI). The relationship between mothers age, gender of child, education level, socioeconomic status, and symptoms of depression in mothers were analysed using Chi-square test and Independent t-test. The risk factors were identied using logistic regression test. Variables with P<0.25 in the univariable analysis were further analyzed by the multivariable logistic regression model. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically signicant. The mean age of mothers in this study was 37.12 years (SD 6.92). Symptoms of depression proportion in this study was 61%. The lowest prevalence rate of depression (32%) is seen in mothers with a college diploma or bachelor's degree. There was a statistically signicant relationship between education level, socioeconomic status, and symptoms of depression in mothers. Based on the results of multivariate analysis; low education level (OR=0.11; 95% CI, 0.02-0.62) and middle and high income (OR=0.13; 95% CI, 0.02-0.72) remained signicant risk factors of symptoms of depression in mothers. Low eduation level and middle and high income increase the risk for symptoms of depression in mothers of children with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND :Leukemia is the most common malignancy, with incidence of 3.7 – 4.9 case per 100.000 children and the majority are children 2 to 5 years old. There are various nutritional status and one of them depend on the measurement method. In a case presence with organomegali, mass, and ascites, the past way to measure the nutritional status is by measuring the mid-arm muscle area (MAMA) and upper arm circumference (UAC)OBJECTIVE :to assess sensitivity of MAMA and UAC to determine the nutritional status in patient with ALL induction phaseMETHODS :Cross sectional study on 35 patient with ALL that had induction phase chemotherapy. Sample were taken with consecutive sampling, and MAMA and UAC were measured. ROC analysis was performed to obtain the cut off point. Bivariate analysis was performed with chi-squareRESULT:From 35 sample that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 20 patient with severe malnutrition by measuring the MAMA and the other 15 patient by measuring the UAC. We found the AUC values MAMA is 70%, the cut off point is 1033,07 mm2 and AUC values UAC is 87,8% with cut-off point 152,5mm by using ROC analysis.CONCLUSION :The sensitivity value of the measurement of the MAMA 47% and UAC 80% with specicity value MAMA 70% and UAC 85%. and the sensitivity value UAC 80% and specicity 85%. From result measuring MAMA not more sensitive to assess the nutritional status of ALL patients in the induction phase

RESUMO

The prevalence of STH in Indonesia in general is still very high at 60%, especially in the underprivileged population who have a high risk of contracting this disease. STH infection showed an association with zinc concentration. Factors inuencing child growth differ between populations and may depend on prevalences of STH species and zinc deciency. This study was a randomized, non-disguise clinical trial conducted to assess zinc effectiveness on differences of weight and height of children after infection with the Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) in February-May 2017. All data is recorded in the status of the study, collected and then processed using SPSS 16.0 for Windows computer software. Of the 200 students, 70 met the inclusion criteria and 39 students were willing to measure their weight and height. Based on research using paired T test found signicant differences in mean body weight and height at the beginning and end of the study in each group of zinc supplementation and without zinc supplementation. Based on this study there were signicant differences in mean weight and height at the beginning and end of the study in each group of zinc supplementation and without zinc supplementation.
