RESUMO

Assay of serous proteins, or fructosamine, in the diabetic subjet should have a peculiar interest to asses the degree of glycemic homeostasis on two to three weeks period before taking. During this study, we have tried to verify relationship between fructosamine and fast glucose average on variable periods. Our study covered 16 diabetic subjects, selected by random sampling. 9 of them are men and 7 women with a mean age of 37 years. The two diabetes types were represented [5 IDD and 11 NIDD] with a mean course duration of 9 years. 5 of our patients have been treated by diet alone, 5 by oral hypoglycemic and 6 by insulin. The procedure has consisted in 4 takings at 21 days interval on which was carry out the assay of fast glucose to the glycose oxydase, glycated hemoglobin by chromatography by cation echange and fructosamine by spectrophotometry after reducing terazolium nitobleu. Fructosamine was very well correlated to fast glucose on a 21 days period [R =0,548 - p < 0,0001] and lesser on 42 and 60 days period [R = 0,437 - p <0,05 vs R = 0,615 - p <0,05]. on the other hand, fructosamine was not well correlated to glycated hemoglobin [R = 0,27 - p > 0,05]. we came to the conclusion that fructosamine is a good reflect of the glycemic equilibrium at short and the mid term and should be used in all cases in which a control of the glycemic equilibrium is necessary. It is especially useful in case of diabetes mellitus recently detected, change of therapeutical management, recent maladjustment, in child and in the pregnant diabetic woman. However, we must report the results to the protides rates in order to avoid a wrong interpretation of coexistant disease of proteins metabolism or dysthyroidy
