Takayasu arteritis and pregnancy

We report 4 cases of pregnant women having Takayasu arteritis. The presented forms were are less evaluated, limited to the main branch of Aorta except for the first case whom the lesion was type 3. The Takayasu disease was recognised before pregnancy in 3 cases. A dysgravidia was noted in 2 patients. The delivery was vaginal in 3 cases and was performed by scar uterine in one case because of acute fetal suffering; gave birth to mature children having a weight ranging from 2600 and 3000g. Through these four cases and review of literature, we define the risks of the association of Takayasu disease to pregnancy, which are dominated by hypertensive complications, fetal growth retardation, cardiac decompensation, and vascular cerebral accidents
