RESUMO

The clinical and histological features were studied in 156 patients with breast carcinoma. The commonest presentation [89, 16%] was a lump in the breast. However, a few patients reported with an ulcerating growth on the breast [4.66%] or metastatic deposits [3%]. The commonest age group was between 31 to 50 years [63.15%]. The bulk of the patients [79.54%] consulted the physician months after the detection of a mass in the breast. The upper lateral quadrant of breast was the commonest site [32.69%] and the left breast was more frequently [58%] involved. The infiltrating duct carcinoma was diagnosed on microscopy in 68.59% of cases. The prognosis of carcinoma of breast remains poor in Pakistan as most of the women belong to younger age groups and report late to physicians
