RESUMO

A series of novel cationic surface active agent was synthesized based on hexamine and alkyl bromide derivatives as long chain quaternizing agent. The produced quaternary ammonium bromide surfactants were confirmed structurally via elemental analyses, FTIR spectroscopy and MS spectroscopy. Surface properties of the synthesized ammonium compounds were determined which include surface tension [gamma], critical micelle concentration [CMC], effectiveness [PI[CMC]], maximum surface excess [GAM[max]] and minimum surface area [A[min]] at 25 and 40°C. Thermodynamic parameters [deltaG, deltaS and deltaH] for both micellization and adsorption processes were determined. The obtained concerning surface and thermodynamic parameters were correlated to the chemical structure of the synthesized surfactants. The variations of these characteristics were found to be completely dependent on the alkyl chain length [hydrophobes]. The biological activities of target compounds were evaluated for their biological activity towards bacteria and fungi at different doses [1, 2.5 and 5mg/mI]. Good correlation was found between the surface properties and the biological activity of these surfactants

RESUMO

A series of alkyl polytriethanolammonium bromide derivatives were synthesized and evaluated as corrosion inhibitors using the weight loss method at 25°C. The applicability of these inhibitors was examined using [2M HCl] at 50, 100 and 200 ppm of inhibitor concentrations. The results were correlated to their surface and thermodynamic parameters of adsorption. The results obtained from emulsification and solubilization measurements showed the ability of using these compounds as corrosion inhibitors in oilfields without any risk for occurrence of emulsification or solubilization processes

RESUMO

The current study was conducted to assess client quality at Ain Shams University Hospitals Out-Patient clinics. The clients included were 484 subjects selected systematically and represented different clinics. Included clients were subjected to an interviewing questionnaire after completing contact with the service. The study showed that, 7% faced difficulties in getting tickets, 46.7% waited for long time. Also, 86.8% stated that the seats were adequate in number, 82.0% were satisfied with ventilation, 68.2% reported that W.C. and lavatories were clean and convenient, and that examination couches were satisfactory by 57.6%. The doctors were patient and listened to clients complaint in 99%, and 98.6% of clients stated that doctors were kind and friendly. Physical safety was considered in 96.7% of cases and confidentiality in 68.4%. It was found that 98.2% of clients trust doctors. Investigations were required for 23.6% of clients, and 45.8% reported that the prescribed drugs were not available in the Out-Patient pharmacy. The overall satisfaction of the clients was 95.9%. It was recommended to shorten the contact time, improve physical environment and promote lab facilities and drug supplies

RESUMO

The current study included 1426 medical personnel working at Ain Shams University hospitals selected randomly; 354 staff members, 679 junior doctors [residents and internships] and 393 nurses. The overall vaccination coverage with at least one dose of HB vaccine was 40.6%. The overall coverage with 3 doses of HB vaccine was 29.1%. The mean number of working years was higher among the vaccinated group. More than 55% of personnel who had direct exposure or contact with blood were not vaccinated. HB vaccine uptake was conducted at the work place by 65.6% of vaccinated personnel and about 50% received the vaccine recently, i.e. less than one year. The side effects experienced by vaccinated subjects were local pain [5.4%] and headache [0.7%]. About 38% of included personnel were not sure about the effectiveness of HB vaccine, and 47% do not know exactly the duration of vaccine validity. The current price of the vaccine was unaffordable as stated by 60.9% of subjects and 95.2% concluded that the vaccine should be funded. It was recommended that the work place is the best place for HB vaccine uptake by 80.9% of subjects and the vaccine should be obligatory for all medical personnel by 84.3% of subjects
