RESUMO

Pregnancy related low back pain and urine incontinence is considered as an important health problem which may potentially leads to long-lasting pain and disability. These complications and others lead to abnormal posture and need physiotherapy management. This is an experimental study design to conduct and evaluate the comparative assessment of symptoms between exerciser and non-exerciser group in post-delivery patients. In this study of 30 women, 15 are in exerciser group of mean age 28.2, mean number of children 2.5, and 15 are in non-exerciser group of mean age 27.86, mean number of children 2.4, were examined for the symptoms that arise after delivery. Nine women had caesarean section and six women normal deliveries in the exerciser group and eleven women had caesarean section and seven normal deliveries in non-exerciser group. Women in exerciser group practiced kegal exercises, trunk exercises and lower limbs exercises, whereas the non-exerciser group did not take any physiotherapy. The main results showed urine incontinence, low back pain, change in limitations in activities and severity of main complains. Symptoms relieve after physiotherapy, in exerciser group nine women said [to some extent], five women said [yes] and one woman said "no". It was concluded that pelvic floor and trunk exercises were effective in the prevention and treatment of urine incontinence and low back pain. The practice of physiotherapy affects women throughout their life

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes in the detection and measurement of frozen shoulder in our population. Seventy five [75] patients were investigates to know the causes associated with frozen shoulder, by asking them a set of question. The result shows that female were more affected than males belonging to different walk of life. Patients with hypertension are more at risk for developing a frozen shoulder. Mobilization techniques performed by physical therapists were used to increases mobility in such patients. Frozen shoulder occurs in about 4% of the general population. RESUMO

Objective: the purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of isometric and isotonic exercises in knee osteoarthritic patients. In this study 22 patients, between 45 yrs. - 75 yrs. of age, suffering from knee osteoarthritis were included out of which 11 patients performed isometric exercises for 10 days and 11 patients performed isotonic exercises for 10 days. They were assessed by visual analog scale, range of motion, Lysholm knee scale Pain score was found to decrease after 1 week of exercises. Both of the isometric and isotonic exercises were effective in knee osteoarthritis. However isometric exercises are more effective than isotonic exercises in knee osteoarthritic pain, when compared with the isotonic exercise regime. Although isotonic exercise resulted in significant changes in pain and functional parameters but it is much lesser compared to isometric exercise regime

RESUMO

This study was designed to evaluate, the effects of a physical activity program incorporating aerobic, strength, and stretching exercises in individuals with osteoarthritis of the knee. Studies on exercise in knee osteoarthritis were focused on elderly subjects. Thirty elderly people [23 women, 7 men] were diagnosed with osteoarthritis of knee. The mean age of the patient was 58.3 years. The patient's pain was assessed through visual analog scale and physical function through following variables such as walking, limping, squatting, and stair climbing was counted. The overall results suggest that this program is effective for elderly persons with osteoarthritis of knee and that it could contribute to reduce pain and improve their physical function. The overall effects of exercise improve ranges 2.03 after exercise. Aerobic resistance and flexibility exercises were found to be effective in reducing arthritic pain and physical disability. Physical training program is a nonmedical intervention that is safe and efficient for improving the patient with knee osteoarthritis and included in the treatment plan of knee osteoarthritis

RESUMO

The term Paraplegia is used to define the loss of ability to move or feel both legs and lower trunk. Paraplegia is usually caused by an injury to the spinal cord at the level of thoracic, lumbar or sacral region, which sequentially results in a loss or damaged function. Injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident, gunshot and during sports activities may result in paraplegia. Non-traumatic factors like scoliosis, spinal tumors and spina bifida can also cause paraplegia. Paraplegic patients have an extensive stage of rehabilitation ahead. Most important goals for paraplegic rehabilitation are to increase strength, improve flexibility, increase endurance or aerobic conditioning, gait training, transfer training and improve body positioning

RESUMO

Hemiplegia is complete paralysis of the arm, leg, and trunk. There is a loss of motor control that put a stop to the patient from precisely controlling the timing and intensity of muscle action. It is usually thought that hemiplegia is a disability and cannot be treated. We report the case report of a 60 year old male patient who was admitted in the Male Medical Unit [MMU 111] of Fatima Hospital of Baqai Medical University, with the complain of right sided hemiplegia [left CVA]. The success of Physiotherapy was found to be considerably high. The shorter the period between the onset of paralysis and the beginning of rehabilitation, the greater the improvement to the patient. As in this case, we started the rehabilitation program early on, that resulted in maximum attainment of functional status
