RESUMO

Objective: To study the relationship between the whole blood zinc concentration and prostate carcinoma and to explore the diagnostic value of the whole blood zinc concentration combined with blood serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) for prostate cancer. Methods: A total of 95 patients with prostate carcinoma and 91 patients with benign prostate hyperplasia were selected between July 2005 and October 2008 in Zhongda Hospital of Southeast University and The Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School. The whole blood zinc concentration was analyzed by atomic absorption spectometry. The serum PSA was analyzed by radioimmunoassay. Results: The volumes of the whole blood zinc concentration were 4.73±1.51 μg/mL in the prostate carcinoma group and 6.82±1.63 μg/mL in the benign prostate hyperplasia group, with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.001). The serum PSA general distribution was significantly different between the two groups (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the serum PSA of 4.0 to 10.0 ng/mL between the two groups (P=0.14). Compared with that in the benign prostate hyperplasia group, the area under ROC curve for the whole blood zinc concentration in the prostate carcinoma group was 0.82. The diagnostic accuracy was optimal with 5.24μg/mL set as the cut-off value of the whole blood zinc concentration and the Youden's index was 0.46 when it was combined with serum PSA 4.0 ng/mL (connection in series). The specificity was 75%, up to 2.34 times of serum PSA applied alone. Meanwhile, the Youden's index was 0.51, achieving 2.22 times. It was not helpful for the diagnosis of prostate carcinoma that the two diagnostic tools were in parallel by which the Youden's index was only 0.14. Conclusion: Detection of the whole blood zinc concentration is beneficial for differentiation of prostate carcinoma from benign prostate hyperplasia. Combined with serum PSA (connection in series), it can significantly impove diagnostic efficiency when PSA was 4.0~10.0ng/mL. Detection of the whole blood zinc concentration can provide valuable information for the diagnosis of prostate cancer and worths clincal application.

RESUMO

Objective:To summarize the influencing factors and the preventative strategies of transurethral resection syndrome(TURS) in transurethral vaporization of the prostate(TVP). Methods:Among the consecutive 1360 patients who underwent TVP from Feb 1998 to 2004 Dec,using Circon vaporization device and vaporizaton-resection electrode,irrigating with 5% GS,TURS occured in 12 cases.The clinical materials were reviewed retrospectively. Results:At the end of operation,serum sodium declined and blood glucose rose apparently in the TURS cases.Of the 12 patients,mean operative time was 136 min(90-180min),prostate volume were Ⅲ?(50-75 g),perforation of the prostate capsule occurred in 8 cases,chill occued in 8 cases.TURS occurrence rate was relatively high in the high risk cases.The 12 patients were cured. Conclusion:The risk of TURS that still exists during TVP is relevant to: perforation of the prostate capsule,operative time,irrigating pressure,the high risk cases,prostate volume and(so on.)

RESUMO

Protein kinase C(PKC) is the main signaling molecule of the diacylglycerol dependent protein kinase C signal transducting system.PKC plays an important role in the generation and progress of cancer.The activation of PKC is associated with the proliferation,differentiation,apoptosis,migration and multidrug resistance(MDR) of tumor cells.It may become a novel anti-tumor strategy to block the proliferation and drug resistance signal transduction passageways with new specific PKC inhibitors directed at the PKC subgroup in tumor cells.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the development of tubulointerstitial fibrosis caused by partial unilateral ureter obstruction(PUUO) and the improvement of tubulointerstitial fibrosis after obstruction was relieved. Methods: PUUO was induced by the method of embedding upper half of the ureter into ipsilateral psoas.Obstruction was relieved by dissecting the ureter from psoas groove and returning its normal anatomical position.Pathology examination were performed,and collagenⅠand Ⅲ were semi-quantified by immunohistochemistry assay. Results: Massive accumulation of TypeⅠand Ⅲ collagen in tubulointerstitium leads to renal fibrosis.Renal fibrosis can recover if obstruction be relieved within 4 weeks. Conclusion: The results indicated tubuloinsterstitisl fibrosis develop progressively after PUUO,and fibrosis reduce by obstruction relief.

Objective: In T_(739) inbred line mice,bladder cancer model was established via tumor source transplant.In order to get insights of the biological effects of implanting ~(125)I seed to treat bladder cancer,the development and the pathological modality of tumor tissues were observed through the experiment of implanting ~(125) I seed.The experiment was to provide theoretical gist and practical guidance for clinical(utilization) of ~(125)I seed for brachytherapy of bladder cancer. Methods: 16 T_(739) inbred line mice were divided into two groups(A:experimental group,n=8;B:control group,n=8) in random;bladder cancer model was established via tumor source transplant.When the diameter of the transplanting tumor was about 0.7 cm,~(125)I seeds were implanted at the tumor of experimental group while the empty seed was penetrated into the control group at the same position as the experimental group and the experimental mice were executed after 24 days.The longest vertical diameters(a) and(b) of tumor body were observed every 3 days and the volume of tumor body(V=ab~(2)/2) was calculated.Combining with the weight of mouse(W) and the weight of tumor body after execution of mice(w),the growth curve of tumor was protracted and the colony redouble time and tumor suppression rate were calculated.After fixation of formaldehyde,the pathological modality of tumor tissues were observed with HE staining. Results: ① The transplantation was 100% successful and there was no natural fade-away phenomenon.②After implantation of seed,the weight of group A mice increased by(4.93?0.60)g,and group B increased by(13.60?1.15)g(P
