RESUMO
Objetivo - Investigar o perfil de crescimento físico, a partir dos indicadores estatura/idade e peso/idade, de crianças e adolescentes de três capitais brasileiras. Métodos - Participaram do estudo 1.798 crianças e adolescentes das três capitais, entre idades entre 5 a 17 anos. Para a efetivação do estudo, o crescimento físico foi determinado a partir das informações de estatura e massa corporal das crianças e adolescentes. Resultados - Nos resultados de massa corporal, observou-se em Manaus-AM, Campo Grande-MS e Florianópolis-SC, respectivamente, 77,9%, 48,2% e 49,4% dos escolares abaixo do percentil 50 e 22,1%, 51,8% e 50,6% acima. Em relação aos resultados de estatura, observaram-se em Manaus-AM, Campo Grande-MS e Florianópolis-SC, respectivamente, 76,9%, 40,7%, 54,5% dos escolares abaixo do percentil 50 e 23,1%, 59,3%, 45,5% acima. Conclusão - Assim, observou-se que nas capitais com características mais próximas (Campo-Grande-MS e Florianópolis-SC) demonstraram perfis de crescimento semelhantes entre si, o que não se refletiu na capital de Manaus-AM.
Objective - This study aimed to investigate the profile of physical growth from indicators of height / weight / age of children and adolescents of three Brazilian capital. Methods - The sample included 1.798 children and adolescents from these three capital between ages 5 to 17 years old. The physical growth was determined from the information of height and weight of children and adolescents. Results - Concerning weight of Manaus-AM, Campo-Grande-MS and Florianópolis-SC, respectively, showed that 77,9%, 48,2% and 49,4% of students were below the 50th percentile and 22.1%, 51.8% and 50,6% above. Regarding the height, the results showed that in Manaus-AM, Campo Grande-MS and Florianópolis-SC, respectively, 76,9%, 40,7%, 54,5% of students were below the 50th percentile and 23,1%, 59,3% , 45,5% above. Conclusion - Therefore, these results suggest that capital which are closer in terms of characteristics (Campo Grande-MS and Florianópolis-SC), showed similar profiles of growth, however, it was not confirmed in the Manaus-AM capital.
