Preparación pedagógica y producción científica de docentes que imparten Salud Pública en Villa Clara / Pedagogic preparation and scientific production of the professors who teach Public Health in Villa Clara

Fundamento: la preparación pedagógica y producción científica de los docentes es primordial para la calidad del proceso docente educativo. Objetivo: caracterizar la preparación pedagógica y producción científica de los docentes de la asignatura Salud Pública en Villa Clara. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas en enero de 2014; se emplearon métodos teóricos: análisis-síntesis e inductivo-deductivo, para el estudio sobre el tema, y la conformación metodológica de la investigación; empíricos: el análisis de documentos, incluyendo los convenios y expedientes individuales y la caracterización actualizada de los profesores del departamento; y matemáticos para los valores absolutos y relativos. Resultados: se detectó que la pirámide docente del claustro se sustenta sobre la base de profesores con categoría docente de Asistente en su mayoría, se constató un tiempo medio de 17,4 años de experiencia; la mayoría ha recibido el Curso Básico de Pedagogía y algunos han egresado del Diplomado de Educación Médica; ninguno ha realizado una maestría relacionada con esta ciencia. Muy pocos han realizado investigaciones científicas de corte pedagógico, y predominan las referidas a otros perfiles del campo de las ciencias médicas. Conclusiones: la preparación pedagógica y producción científica de docentes que imparten Salud Pública en Villa Clara presenta carencias, es insuficiente aún su participación en los cursos de superación pedagógica planificados, las investigaciones realizadas en este campo son escasas y no hay ninguno que haya realizado una maestría de este tipo.

Background: the pedagogic preparation and scientific production is essential for the quality of the teaching-learning process. Objective: to characterize the pedagogic preparation and scientific production of the professors of the Public Health subject in Villa Clara. Methods: It was carried out a cross-sectional descriptive study in the University of Medical Sciences in January 2014; theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive, for the study on the topic, and the methodological conformation of the investigation; empiric ones: the analysis of documents, including the working agreements and individual files and an updated characterization of the professors of the department; and mathematics: for the absolute and relative values. Results: it was detected that the teaching pyramid of the teaching staff is mostly conformed by professors with the teaching rank of Assistant professor, the average work experience was 17, 4 years; most of them have received the Basic Course of Pedagogy and some of them have obtained a diploma in Medical Education; none has carried out a master´s course related with this science. Very few of them have carried out scientific investigations in the pedagogic field, and those related to other fields of the medical sciences are predominant. Conclusions: there is an insufficient pedagogic preparation and scientific production of the professors who teach Public Health in Villa Clara, as well as their participation in the planned pedagogic upgrading courses, the investigations carried out in this field are few and none of them have carried out a master´s course of this type.

Manual instructivo en gestión de calidad en los servicios de salud / Handbook on health service quality management

Introducción: a partir de la inexistencia de bibliografía referida al tema de calidad en salud en la asignatura de Salud Pública, se confecciona un material bibliográfico con este fin. Objetivo: elaborar un manual instructivo para la docencia en la temática calidad para estudiantes del 5to año de Medicina y residentes en Medicina General Integral acorde con las demandas del proceso formativo. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal. El universo estuvo constituido por los 28 docentes del departamento de Salud de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara los cuales constituyen la muestra; se efectuó en el período comprendido de septiembre 2011 a diciembre del 2012, se utilizaron métodos teóricos, empíricos y matemáticos. Resultados: se diseñó un material que aborda contenidos actualizados en lo referente a la gestión de calidad en los servicios de Salud que fue validado por criterio de especialistas para su aprobación, en correspondencia con los problemas identificados en el departamento. Conclusiones: el material ha sido de gran utilidad a los estudiantes 5to año de Medicina en la estancia de Salud Pública, residentes en Medicina General Integral, y sus profesores.

Introduction: considering the lack of literature about health care quality in the subject Public Health, a bibliographic material was devised for this purpose. Objective: to develop an instructive material for teaching the topic of quality to 5th year medical students and Comprehensive General Medicine residents according to the demands of the training process. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. The universe consisted of 28 teachers from the Health Department of the Faculty of Medicine in the Medical University of Villa Clara. The study was conducted from September 2011 to December 2012. Theoretical, empirical and mathematical methods were used. Results: a material that includes updated content regarding the management of health services was designed. It was validated by expert judgment for its approval, in correspondence with the problems that were identified in the department. Conclusions: the material has been very useful for 5th year medical students in the rotation stay of Public Health, for Comprehensive General Medicine residents, and for professors teaching the rotation stay of Public Health.
