RESUMO

Sixty two patients with first acute MI were subjected to coronary angiography within 10 days of infarction. Sixty were males and 2 females. Their age ranged between 30 and 70 [mean 50]. Thirty-three [53.3%] had inferior MI, the RCA was involved in 32 [97%], the circumlex artery in 13 [39%] and the LAD in 14 [42%]. Twenty-nine patients had anterior MI, only nine [31%] had single vessel disease and 20 [69%] had multivessel disease. The LAD was involved in 23 [93%], the circumflex in 9 [31%] and the RCA in 12 [41%]. In conclusion, in patients with acute MI the coronary artery affected and the extent of this affection cannot be precisely predicted from analysis of the abnormal leads in the surface ECG

RESUMO

43 patients with acute transmural myocardial infarction [M.I.] were studied. They were divded into three groups according to the site of M.I. [Anterior, inferior, and combined]. Pump failure was 51.1% in the combined form; 66% in anterior M.I., and least 13% in inferior M.I. No difference in the incidence according to the type [transmural or non-transmural], [51.1% Vs 57.1%]. Mortality rate in the whole group [43 patients] was 11.6% [5 patients], highest in the combined [25%] and lowest in inferior M.I. [6.6%], while it was 14.8% in the anterior M.I. subgroup. This study stress the significance of pump failure in the short term prognosis and early mortality after M.I. than, the site, extent and transmurality

RESUMO

15 patients with clinically overt thyrotoxicosis were studied, age range 20-45 years. [fmean 34.2 +/- 7.3] one male, 14 females. Serum T3, T4 were elevated in all patients before treatment [T3 range 278-600 ng%-normal 80-200 ng%] and [T4 range 14.4 -24 ng%-normal 5-13 ng%]. Cardiac index was markedly increased in all patients [5.46 +/- 0.65 L/min/m2] .After treatment by neomercozole for 2-5 weeks marked improvement in symptomatology; palpibation [84%], tremor [77%] and nervousness [61.5%] with marked reduction in heart rate in all patients. [P<0.001], the cardiac index in all patients dropped in a highly significant manner [P<0.001]. It is evident from this study that Echocardiography and the measurement of cardiac index could be of additional value in diagnosis and assessment of benifet in medically treated thyrotoxcosis
