RESUMO

Hundred and eight asthmatic patients were interviewed to try to find out the rate of acceptance of inhalers as a mode of therapy of asthma. Also to find out the causes of refusal to use these inhalers. Fifty four patients [50%] accepted the use of inhalers among these only 14 patients [24%] were using both types of inhalers [B-agonist and steroid inhalers]. The causes of refusal were fear of addiction, thinking of non-effectiveness, cosmotic reasons, fearing from causing heart disease and the dislike of the inhaler without mentioning the cause. The refusal rate was more common among females
