Injuries of the Inferior Vena Cava Is there an optimum line of treatment?

In this study, 27 cases of inferior vena caval injuries due to penetrating and blunt trauma were studied. The various clinical presentations and diagnostic techniques were reviewed. The type and site of the injuries as well as the associated injuries to other viscera were determined. Some cases were treated by repair, while other cases were treated by ligation of the inferior vena cava. The outcome according to the type of procedure was also recorded. The mortality group of the series was studied and reasons for death were determined. The surviving group was also studied to underst and the effects of treatment on the patient and on the injured inferior vena cava [IVC]. The results were recorded and compared with other studies

Different modalities of treatment of varicose ulcers in post phlebitic limbs

In this study, 60 cases of post phlebitic limb suffering from venous ulceration were randomly chosen and the three common modalities of treatment of the ulceration were compared. A comparison was done between the results of the three treatment modalities as regards hospital stay, post treatment complications, type and duration of wound healing and progress of the ulcer and recurrence. The cases were reviewed after one month, six months and one year and the results were compared in an attempt to reach the best policy to deal with this condition that would significantly reduce the misery of ulceration and would reduce the considerable costs of medical treatment for the patients as well as health authorities
