RESUMO
The nephrolithiasis patients were treated with aqueous potassium citrate solution orally three times in a day with large quantity of water. After administration of potassium citrate urinary citric acid [p < 0.001], potassium [P < 0.001], and pH [P <0.001] were significantly increased. Urinary calcium [P < 0.001], specific gravity [P <0.001] and crystalluria were significantly decreased. These observations will be useful in the prevention of calcium nephrolithiasis with hypocitraturia, normocalciuria, as well as controlling calcium nephrolithiasis complicating uric acid lithiasis
