RESUMO

Aquaculture is the farming of economically important aquatic animals and plants under controlled conditions. The analysis of enzyme profile of Indian major and exotic carps were carried out. The study revealed that there was fluctuation in physicochemical parameters. The enzyme profile in the present study the major carps showed significantly higher concentration than the exotic craps

RESUMO

Asia is the hub of aquaculture. In the Indian continents 75% culture development is on the East Coast along the Bay of Bengal. An attempt has been made to analyse the protein profile of Vibrio sp. isolated from Penaeus monodon. For the present study five isolates of Vibrio namely, V. alginolyticus, V. anguillarium, V. fluvialis, V. furnissi and V. mimicus were selected for protein estimation and SDS-PAGE analysis. The study revealed the total protein range from 10.4 +/- 0.17 to 12.3 +/- 0.26%, respectively. In the SDS-PAGE analysis the tested Vibrio sp. showed a single band of 38 kDa. The study revealed that the isolated Vibrio sp. showed 38 kDa protein band unique to pathogenic condition

RESUMO

Shrimps are considered as the pinkish gold of sea, around 80% of World's aquaculture production comes from this industry. In Indian subcontinent 75% of aquaculture development is on the East Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Present study was undertaken to study the Vibrio and fungal infection in the ice stored Penaeus monodon [Shrimps]. Present study reveals that the samples harvested from Mallipattinum showed highest rate of infection [71.47%] and was followed by the Nagapattinum samples [67.66%]. Green and Yellow coloured colonies of smooth, raised and mucoid Gram negative rods were observed. Fungal analysis revealed that Mallipattinum showed highest percentage of infection [21.47%] and was followed by the samples collected from Nagapattinum. The lactophenol cotton blue mounting revealed the presence of A. flavus, A. niger and Fusarium oxysporum

RESUMO

Fish serves as food for mankind. Flesh of fish is a perishable commodity. A study was taken to ascertain the pathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila; Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio parahaemolylicus on Indian major carps Catla catla and Labeo rohita. Among the three bacteria used, Aeromonas hydrophila was more pathogenic followed by Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Among the carps tested Catla catla was found to be more susceptible than Lobeo rohita. The major biochemical components such as the protein, carbohydrate and lipid levels showed significant variation between the control and infected groups [p<0.05] Morphological chances like yellow coloured abdomen, haemorrhage on the head region, swelling of the abdomen, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen and necrosis of the internal organs were observed in the Aeromonas hydrophila and Vibrio parahaemolyticus infected carps

RESUMO

This paper describes the detection of virus by using polymerase chain reaction and histopathological changes occurred in WSBV infected post larvae of Penaeus monodon. The affected shrimp showed red coloured body exhibiting type II outbreak. In histopathology, hypertrophied nuclei and eosinophilic inclusions were observed

RESUMO

Various antibiotics belonging to beta lactum, Rifampicin, Tetracycline, Quinolone, Aminoglycoside and synthetic groups were selected against vibrio species viz. V.fluvialis, V. furnissi, and V. splendidus, isolated from the diseased Penaeus monodon. The study revealed that among 15 antibiotics used, 12 showed sensitivity against V. fluvialis. In Vibrio furnissi among 16 antibiotics tested, 11 showed sensitivity, among 21 antibiotics tested, against V. splendidus, showed sensitivity against 14 antibiotics. Various antibiotics tested, ciprofloxacin was found to be more effective against all the test organisms
