RESUMO

5-cyano-2,4-dioxo-tetrahydropyridine-6-thione [2] gave the S- acetanilido [4], S-acetahydrazide [5], thiazolo [3,2-a] pyridine [7] and the pyrido [2,3-d] pyrimidines [9a, b] via the condensation product [3]. The S-methyl derivative [10] gave the aminopyrazolo [3,4-b]-pyridinone [12], iminopyrazolo [3,4-b] pyridinone [14], pyrido [2,1-b] [1,2] oxazine derivatives [17a-d] and oxazolo [3,2-a] pyridinone derivative [19] via its reactions with hydrazine hydrate, phenylhydrazine, cinnamonitrile derivatives and chloro acetic acid, respectively

Several new coumarinopyrazole, coumarinopyridine derivatives and coumarinyl azoles were synthesised via the reactions of 3-acetyl- and 3-bromoacetyl-coumarin with different active methylene heterocyclic derivatives. RESUMO

Secobarbitone sodium irradiated at 3 dose levels [15, 25 or 50 KGy] was injected intraperitoneally into male albino rats. Brain monoamines [serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline] as well as the activity of enzyme mono-amine oxidase [MAO] were investigated, one and six hours after drug administration. Results were compared with those produced by non-irradiated secobarbitone. Result revealed that non-irradiated secobarbitone exerted no change in brain serotonin level, one hour after drug administration, whereas dopamine and noradrenaline contents and MAO activity showed significant increase. Six hours after administration of secobarbitone, serotonin and dopamine content were significantly increased. On the other hand, noradrenaline was normalized. These change were associated with a significant increase of MAO activity. Radiation of secobarbitone sodium in its solid or solution form at the radiation dose level 15 KGy exerted no detectable change from that of the non-irradiated drug. On the other hand, radiation of the drug at the dose levels 25 and 50 KGy showed significant changes in brain monoamines content and MAO activity. Microbiological investigation of the irradiated secobarbitone using KGy proved effective sterilization. The infrared spectrum did not show any change of the chemical structure of the irradiated secobarbitone. The pharmacological study did not reveal any variation in the onset or duration of action of the irradiated secobarbitone [15 or 25 KGy] as compared with the non-irradiated drug
