RESUMO

Lipid droplets (LDs) are ubiquitous dynamic organelles that store and supply lipids in all eukaryotic and some prokaryotic cells for energy metabolism, membrane synthesis and production of essential lipid-derived molecules. There is increasing evidence that hepatitis C virus (HCV) has co-evolved due to its lack of lipid biosynthetic pathways to utilize host lipid metabolic pathways to establish a suitable environment for virus proliferation and obtain the necessary components, eventually promote the assembly and transportation of virus. In this review, we outline the relationship between HCV life cycle and lipid droplet biosynthesis and metabolism, with the aim to discover potential antiviral targets for development of new therapeutic interventions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the chemical constituents in the stem bark of Pandanus tectorius Soland. METHODS: Compounds were isolated by repeated chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. RESULTS: Thirteen compounds were isolated and identified as 3-hydroxy-2-isopropenyldihydrobenzofuran-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (1), pinoresinol (2), epi-pinoresinol(3), salicifoliol(4), thero-2, 3-bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) -3-ethoxypropan-1-ol(5), erythero-2, 3-bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) -3-ethoxypropan-1-ol(6), eudesmin A (7), loliolide (8), pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-glucoside (9), protocate-chuic acid(10), caffeic acid(11), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (12), and ferulic acid (13). CONCLUSION: All the compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time.

RESUMO

Objective To assess the methodology of papers on systematic reviews and meta-analysis of interventions published in Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine .Methods Basic data were extracted from 70 papers on systematic reviews and meta-analysis of interventions published in Journal of Evidence-Based Medicinefrom 2001 to 2011 .Methodology used in these papers was assessed according to the AMSTAR Scale. The data were input into the Excelland analyzed using the SPSS7.0 and Meta-Analyst software. Results The methodology used in 34 papers (48.6%) was assessed using the Cochrane bias risk assessment tools.Fund support, number of authors and their affiliated institutions did not sig-nificantly affect the total score of methodology used in the 70 papers .Conclusion The methodology used in papers on systematic reviews and meta-analysis of interventions published in Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine is not quite valid as its early design program and retrieval strategies are imperfect , and it does not provide the excluded literature list and the interest conflict.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the tolerance of chemotherapy based on gemcitabine and cisplatin in elderly patients (> 70 years old) with advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods Retrospective analysis in 34 elderly patients with advanced pancreatic cancer between January 2004 and January 2009 was performed. Results 6 patients had partial remission (PR) and 16 patients had stable diaease (SD). The clinical benefit response (CBR) rate was 64.7%. 18 patients reduced their analgesics dose exceeding 50% , as well as pain intensity descended exceeding 35% , 22 patients had the weight increased more than 7% and had improved general well-being. The incidence rate of nausea and vomiting was 38. 2% (13/34) , 4 patients had worsened liver function and aggravated skin and sclera stained yellow. Incidence of Ⅲ- Ⅳ myelosuppressive was 34. 6% , and there were decrease in the number of white blood cell, hemoglobin, platelets to some extent, the rate of thrombocytopenia was 28. 3% (12/34) , blood routine normalized after using G-CSF. There was no occurrence of peripheral neurotoxicity or chemotherapy-related death. Conclusions Chemotherapy of gemcitabine in combination with cisplatin was tolerable for elderly patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who were in good condition of behavior.
