Oclusão na odontologia estética: recuperação de espaço para restaurar dentes anteriores desgastados / Occlusion in esthetic dentistry: reestablishment of space to restore worn anterior teeth

Este artigo relata o caso clínico de uma paciente de 37 anos de idade que apresenta desgaste dos incisivos centrais superiores (11 e 21), com sorriso invertido. Em máxima intercuspidação habitual (MIH), a paciente mostrava uma relação de topo a topo, o que impossibilitava a restauração de seus dentes anteriores pela técnica habitual. Por meio da técnica de ajuste oclusal por desgaste seletivo, realizada em relação cêntrica (RC), recuperou-se o espaço na região anterior. Imediatamente após isso, os incisivos centrais superiores foram reconstruídos com resina composta fotopolimerizável, o que restabeleceu a estética da paciente

This article is case report of a 37-years-old patient presenting both worn maxillary central incisors with sever wear and inverted smile line. The patient presented a top-to-top relation in Maximal Intercuspal Position (MIP) making restoration of the teeth impossible. The space for restoration of the anterior teeth was obtained through occlusal adjustment by selective grinding of teeth which was performed in Centric Relation (CR). Then, the maxillary central incisors were restored using light-curing composite resin, reestablishing patient’s esthetics
