RESUMO

Prostacyclin [PGI2], the main metabolite of arachidonic acid presents in the rat stomach. It is derived from cyclic endoperoxidase and its split form a relatively stable product 6-oxo-PGE1. This study was conducted on male Wistar rats, 300-350 g, fasting for 24 hours, drinking only water. It was found that the rate of platelet aggregation by PGI2 was concentration dependant and aliquot taken from gastric glandular tissue incubated in this buffer were shown to inhibit platelet aggregation which suggests its content of PGI2
