A relação corpo-alma na Metafísica Alemã (1720) de Christian Wolff / The body-soul relationship in Christian Wolff's German Metaphysics (1720)

O pensamento psicológico de Christian Wolff constitui uma das mais significativas referências para o desenvolvimento conceitual e metodológico da psicologia a partir do século XVIII. Contudo, Wolff vem sendo ignorado na literatura psicológica, sobretudo no caso brasileiro. O objetivo do presente trabalho é apresentar a relação corpo-alma em seu pensamento psicológico, a partir da análise de seu primeiro tratado metafísico sistemático: a Metafísica Alemã (1720). É discutido, primeiramente, o lugar da questão em seu sistema, considerando dois níveis de análise: o empírico e o racional. Segue-se apresentando as três teorias ali discutidas: o influxo natural, a intervenção imediata de Deus e a harmonia pré-estabelecida. Por fim, é feita uma análise de algumas relações entre esta última e o sistema wolffiano.(AU)

The psychological thought of Christian Wolff is one of the most important references in the conceptual and methodological development of psychology from the 18th century on. Nevertheless, Wolff has been ignored in the psychological literature, especially in Brazil. This paper intends to present the body-soul relationship in his psychological thought by analyzing his first systematic metaphysical treatise: the German Metaphysics (1720). First, the place of the topic in his system is discussed, taking into account two levels of analysis: empirical and rational. Then, the evaluation of Wolff of three theories (natural influx, God's immediate intervention and pre-established harmony) is presented. Finally, the relationship between his system and pre-established harmony is analyzed.(AU)

O Conceito de Mente em Wilhelm Wundt / Wilhelm Wundt’s concept of mind

O presente trabalho, inserido no campo da História da Psicologia, tem como objetivo apresentar a fundamentação do conceito de mente na fase de maturidade do pensamento psicológico de Wilhelm Wundt, considerando suas obras traduzidas para a língua inglesa. Pretende-se, com isso, compreender uma parte significativa das bases fundamentais de seu sistema maduro de psicologia, cuja apreciação entre os psicólogos encontra-se bastante prejudicada. Reconhece-se ali o valioso material fornecido para as discussões acerca da investigação dos fenômenos mentais. Além disso, no que refere à psicologia em geral, pretende-se demonstrar sua dependência em relação à atividade filosófica, apontando a relevância da reflexão teórico-conceitual para o estabelecimento de sua cientificidade e legitimidade.

This work, which belongs to the field of History of Psychology, intends to present the foundations of Wilhelm Wundt’s concept of mind in his mature phase of psychological thought, taking into consideration his works translated to the English language. So it is hoped to comprehend a significant part of the fundamental basis of Wundt’s mature system of psychology, which has been poorly appreciated among psychologists, and to recognize its great value to debates about the investigation of mental phenomena. Furthermore, in what concerns psychology in general, it is also intended to demonstrate its dependence on philosophical activity, showing the relevance of theoretical reflection to the establishment of its legitimacy and scientific validity.
