RESUMO
Após a instalação de implantes e a colocação de próteses sobre os mesmos acontece, usualmente, um processo deremodelação e reabsorção da crista óssea alveolar contígua. Trabalhos recentes têm evidenciado que quando se utiliza componente protético com um diâmetro menor que o da plataforma do implante propriamente dito (platformswitching), parece haver uma redução na reabsorção da crista óssea alveolar. Com base nesses achados, uma menor perda e maior estabilidade do tecido ósseo peri-implantar deverá serconseguida utilizando-se o sistema de plataforma reduzida e com isso o sucesso terapêutico tende a ser potencializado. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as últimas evidênciascientíficas sobre a temática em tela.
After the installation of dental implants and the placing of prostheses on the same ones happen, usually, a processof remodelling and reabsorption of the contiguous crestal bone. Recent works have evidenced that when prostheticcomponent with a lesser diameter is used that of the platform of the implant (platform switching), it seems tohave a reduction in the reabsorption of the crestal bone. On the basis of these fi ndings, a lesser loss and greater stabilityof the peri-implant bone tissue should be obtained using the system of reduced platform and with this the therapeuticalsuccess tends to be improved. The objective of this study was to analyze the last scientifi c evidences on the thematic in screen.
