The concept of fantasy has worked in the Philosophical and psychological tradition as a purely fictional feature. It was with Freud that the concept gets the importance of a psychic mechanism in the service of desire and, with Lacan, still receives new predicates. The purpose of this work will be to elevate the discussion about the affirmation of fantasy as psychic mechanism to sustain the experience of reality to the subject - in other words, there is no reality without fantasy. Thats because the fantasy has a specific quality, a certain communicative autonomy in relation to the psyche. If so, it would open up a range of possibilities and limitations of the different experiences of the subject, especially as regards to the relations between subject and objects of the world. For the development of this purpose will be worked a few key points: The reality and fantasy to Freud; reality and fantasy for Lacan; the dream as an experience; art as an experience; fantasy as an experience.
