RESUMO

Objective To explore the effect of acupuncture on trunk control ability and balance function in patients with spinal cord inju-ry above lumbar. Methods 40 patients with spinal cord injury were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 20 cas-es in each group. The control group received limb joint training method, the observation group received acupuncture in addition. Fugl-Mey-er Assessment and Flex Comp Infiniti EMG system were used to evaluate the balance function and trunk muscle strength before and 8 weeks after treatment. Results After treatment, the balance function and trunk control ability improved in both groups (P<0.01), and were better in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Limb linkage combined with acupuncture can further im-prove the balance function and trunk control ability in patients with spinal cord injury above lumbar.

RESUMO

@# Objective To observe the effect of horizontal multi-joint arm continuous passive motion (CPM) training on muscle tension and strength of biceps brachii of patients with stroke. Methods 60 patients with stroke were divided into treatment group (n=30) and control group (n=30). All the patients accepted routine medication and rehabilitation. The treatment group accepted horizontal multi-joint arm CPM training in addition. Their surface electromyography of biceps brachii was analyzed with surface electromyography analysis system: tension and strength before and after treatment. Results The tension and strength of biceps brachii improved in both groups after treatment (P<0.05), and improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The horizontal multi-joint arm CPM training may relieve the muscle tension and enhance the strength of biceps brachii after stroke

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effect of treadmill training on metabotropic glutamate receptor of a middle cerebral artery occlusion model in rat and its underlying mechanisms. Methods Sprague-Dawley male rats of 2 or 3 months old were randomly divided into 3 groups: a sham operation group, an iscbemia-reperfnsion group and a treadmill training group (subject to 2 weeks of training after the ischemia-reperfusion). All the animals were sacri-ficed after 2 weeks of training and their brains were sampled for measurement of the expression level of the striatum mGluR Ⅰ-mRNA, using RT-PCR technique. Results The striatum mRNA of mGluR1 and mGluR5 was signifi-cantly elevated in the ischemia-reperfusion group(P<0.01), but treadmill training significantly suppressed the ele-vation of the expression of mRNA of mGluR1 and mGluR5 (P<0.01). Conclusions Treadmill training can signif-icantly downregulate mGluR Ⅰ-mRNA expression. This might be one of the important mechanisms for inhibition of the excitatory glutamate production.
