RESUMO
As hepatites virais são um grave problema de saúde pública no Brasil e no mundo. Segundo estimativas, bilhões de pessoas já tiveram contado com os vírus das hepatites e milhões são portadores crônicos. O termo hepatite viral geralmente se refere aos vírus hepatotrópicos, sendo que atualmente os mais conhecidos ? A, B, C, D, E ? são os responsáveis por mais de 90% dos casos de hepatite aguda. As hepatites virais são causas de doença hepática na população pediátrica. Os vírus da hepatite causamampla variedade de apresentações clínicas, que vão desde um estado de portador assintomático, hepatite aguda, fulminante ou crônica até cirrose hepática e carcinoma hepatocelular. As equipes de atenção básica têm papel relevante no diagnóstico e no acompanhamento das pessoas portadoras, sintomáticas ou não, de hepatites. Nesta revisão, serão enfatizadas as hepatites pelos vírus A, B e C, mais frequentes em nossomeio e que implicam mais morbimortalidade.
Viral hepatitis are a serious public health problem in Brazil and the world. According to estimates, billions of people have already had contact with the hepatitis virus and millions are chronic carriers. The term viral hepatitis usually refers to hepatotropic viruses, which the currently best known - A, B, C, D, and E - are responsible for over 90% of cases of acute hepatitis. Viral hepatitis cause liver disease in the pediatric population and a wide variety of clinical presentations, ranging from an asymptomatic carrier state, acute hepatitis, fulminant or chronic to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in other populations. Basic attention teams have a relevant role in the diagnosis and follow-up of hepatitis affected patients, symptomatic or not. In this review, hepatitis caused by viruses A, B, and C will be emphasized, which are frequent in our environment and involve high morbidity and mortality.
